I just picked up my Bushnell Elite Tactical 3-12x44 for my SPR-ish build, and am looking for the lowest high quality rings available (thinking LaRue, Bobro, etc), but am having a difficult time getting the right measurements. I'm seeing height over rail measurements (for the rings / scope base) anywhere between 1.2" through 1.5" and a little over. As I'm running a full lenth rail over the upper receiver and forend, I don't need to run a canteliver style base, and was leaning toward lower profile rings instead.

Ideally, I'd like enough room to mount a set of back up irons (I have a set of Magpul polymer BUIS, but could get the Pro version which are very very low profile), but am really wanting to know what the lowest rings I should have to ensure the objective lens clears the rail.

Thanks for the help!

Measure the outside diameter of the objecive, divide by two then add 0.125". That's about as low as you can get. If you are running standard style rings many of those are sold measuring from the base to the bottom of the scope, so subtract 15mm (0.591")

Personally, I find 1.25" rail-center of scope gives a solid cheek weld if you can go that low.
