Monday I shhipped the complete kit back to Magneto Speed. They received it today and sent an email there was a bad sensor in the unit. The replaced the bayo unit and it is in UPS back to me. I should have it back tomorrow.

Just got a new V2 in. Tried it at the range today. .30/178AMAX/44gr RL15/18.5" Tango51.

Velocity was showig 1920fps. Checked or reset to copper/lead bullet. Still showing low velocity. Unit is set just below bore C/L with clearance.

What other settings do I need to check??

When I go to diagnostic mode it rolls back to the main screen. I don't get the diag screen.

Any help?

Tried again this morning. I addeed a samll piece if inertube on top of the barrel for more bite. Double checked the alignment and tightened until you couldn't turn the unit.
Both series are the same ammo, Series 1 is a Tango 51 18.5", Series 2 is a 16" Stainless MWS.

The load from yesterday chronoed last year at 2550, forgot I had checked it and pulled the data.

Series 1 Shots: 2
Min 2003 Max 2015
Avg 2009 S-D 8
ES 12

Series Shot Speed
1 1 2015 ft/sec
1 2 2003 ft/sec
---- ---- ---- ----
Series 2 Shots: 3
Min 1830 Max 1853
Avg 1840 S-D 11
ES 23

Series Shot Speed
2 1 1830 ft/sec
2 2 1853 ft/sec
2 3 1838 ft/sec

Traded email with Alex with Magneto Speed last night. Waiting for more from him.

I would give Magnetospeed a call. I also have V2 and it works great. It has not shown a single error in over 100 rds. of .308 and .223. My 168 gn. AMAX load with 44.0 gn RL-15 is doing 2550 out of a 16" LMT MWS. All shots have been using the settings as it came out of the box. I set the distance at 1/4" below the bottom oof the bore.

did you shoot thru another chrono to see if the speeds are the same - with that charge it should be faster but check thru another chrono first before you look to much at the magneto just in case you have something else going on.

Can't check it through another chrono. Been debating on what to buy when I red about this one. I did a reset on it and may go back to the range tomorrow.

I sent Magneto an emai I thought they would be closed today.

Can you set it too close to the bore?

Make sure that you bayo is tight to your barrel and not moving when the rifle recoils.
I had to re-route the nylon strap as it was loosing after a few shots.

looks to me like its too far forward.....If I remember the instructions correctly the half circle is suppose to be about mid way...not as far forward as you have it in the pic....

It looks like a lot of space. I only use the one spacer on mine. That bullet runs about 6-7 mm over the bayo. Any farther away and I get sporadic readings. I mount it and open the bolt or lock back the carrier on an AR and look down the barrel from about 3ft away to make sure I have clearance. Have not nicked it yet. Sure is convenient!

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread.

I'm wondering what velocity differences you guys have seen between a MagnetoSpeed and another Chronograph? I found my MagnetSpeed reading 8-12 fps slower than my chrony set up 10 feet away. Anyone with similar results or should I try adjusting something on my V2?

MagnetoSpeed should show a higher reading being it is muzzle velocity. And because of the way it reads the velocity I trust the MagnetoSpeed reading more than the traditional chrono.

Ran .17HMR, .454 Casull and .338 Lapua over my V2 this weekend and it worked great. I was impressed it picked up the little 17HMR.

I just got one this month too.
It has been very consistent and fairly accurate from what I can tell.
I haven't shot it through another Chrono to compare but I have compared it to published velocities of certain Match ammo such as FGMM and Nosler ~ it is right on.
YMMV

That's what I would have expected. Are you using factory default settings for everything listed above? I'm going to play with it a little more this weekend. From what I read in the directions, as long as it's reading velocity, you have it set at the correct distance.

I ran the factory default settings. From what I have seen with other chrono data for loads I was shooting I feel it was getting a good reading.
