in a previous post i was umm not quite happy with my north east tactical sling, my only complaint being that it didnt get short enough for me, my usc/ump with the sling at its shortest was still hitting and bouncing off my thighs [the front end by the charging handle] i can undo some of the stitching shorten a section of the sling and restitch, how ever i was thinking about the magpul sling and was wanting your thoughs on it.

Re: magpull ms2 sling

BARFCOM! An entire industry forum for Magpul and their gear just waiting for eager viewers (not to mention countless other threads in other areas of the forums that will deal with single-point slings and such...even an entire H&K forum in the Industry area).

But I'll save you some time...even at its shortest length, the MS2 will keep at least the cocking lever of the USC at groin-to-thigh level and your barrel even lower. Unless you are wearing them way too short to be of any legitimate use while carrying your rifle or you are just standing around without moving much, all single-point slings will leave a portion of your rifle dangling at the level where you are going to get hit in the nuts (or with the USC's 16" barrel, potentially knee-capped)! If you try taking up some of what you consider to be the excess length on your current sling to get it shoter where your USC isn't hitting you at thigh level, you'll quickly realize that it is too tight, restricts your movement or otherwise won't allow you to properly maneuver your rifle around your body.

Re: magpull ms2 sling

i had an hk ump sling.... liked it but i like the 1pt better after i used it for a while, its easier to get out of the way when you transition or just need it off to the side.

i watched a youtube vid of the magpul sling thats what got me so excited about it

one and two pt attachment, i notice chris costa has his sling choked up fairly "tight" thats what iam looking for from my usc/ump clone

fyi i do have an sbr'ed clone with 7.87" barrel

Re: magpull ms2 sling

I own several of them and I can say that the idea is great and they do work but if you use your equipment alot these slings start fraying imediately. So unless it is used on a safe queen I would not suggest getting one. I know a lot of people talk shit about magpul but they do make some of the best accessories in the industry hands down. Other than that If you have to have magpul I would wait until later on this year when the release the MS3. If you cant wait I would suggest buying something else.

Re: magpull ms2 sling

I have used the magpul ms2 sling for some time now. Used it during magpuls carbine 1/2 class for six days of shooting. And I use it on a hk416 for work. The only issues I have is it takes both hands to attach it to the weapon. I dont keep the sling on the weapon. I keep it on me under a cover shirt. Its just one more thing to get snaged getting in and out of a veh. I think they have solved that issue with the ms3 sling thats out on the market now. The hardwear on the ms3 slip is of magpul making, were the ms2 hardwear is not. When I get return to the states I plan on buying the ms3.
