LPR & home rolled 77s. Position one - 607 yrds, had to do a funky kneel / downhill leg straddling part of the downed tree. Slung and wedged up against root wad was too difficult to see Mikes (wind shifts) 1.75 - 2.2 MILs of left wind hold.

(Photos from a previous day) Position two was the same type of set up (chest deep hole) from 727 yrds but with a 12% downslope. Here I sit with my left hip in the slope and use my sand sock under my right elbow and between my left knee for a fairly solid position. The wind backed off a little here 1 - 1.5 MILs.

OK, well then... I'm hooked!! How many shoots a year? Any money shoots? This is perhaps Colorado? Thanks for posting those GREAT pics. Love to come up and do some shooting in BEAUTIFUL country like that!!!

What part of the country is this? I would love to move the family to somewhere with country like that around. If only my job skills were a little more transferrable.

I live in OR.

I was in Seattle last week and it hit me: Traffic was bad for @ 100 miles out; once in town it took 50 minutes to go 11 miles at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. I paused in reflection that most folks probably don't get to shoot as much as I do and when they do it is likely at a 'range'. To shoot in a spot like this for some is probably like going hunting - getting out of town is such an investment in time and energy that they may not go unless they were camping b/c it might take them 3 - 5 hours to get there.

That spot? I can be there and have targets set in @ 30 minutes. It is pretty common for me to take off @ 4 pm - go play in the late day thermals from 100 - 1,200, and then come home and make dinner for the family.

At least in that regard you've got it made man. Nothing near here to shoot more than 200y and I'm not a member there. Best I can get right now is 100y and that gets pretty boring.
Only time I get to stretch out a little in the country is when I head back to WV for a visit a couple times a year at best. I keep telling the wife we should move west but she's not too
keen on the idea of moving just so I can have better places to go shooting.

Very cool pics. FL has no changes in elevation, can be windy, usually just mirage, starting at 8:30 in the morning…

Regarding traffic, I get itchy if there are more than 4 cars in front of me. 50 minutes to go 11 miles, sounds like South FL.

Nice to see someone air out an LPR, 600-700 steps is pretty respectable.

I'd never get anything done, except burn up a pile of ammo, gas, white paint, sandwiches, probably 2 new scopes, another spotter. See where this is going?

Beautiful part of our country, you're a lucky guy. Thanks for the pics.

Man, that's some pretty country. I concur, it would suck to have to drive any distance to go shoot100-200 yds. I'm in il, no suppresor, that part sucks but i can walk out of my farm shop and smack steel from 500-1320 yds.
