Fieldcraft Military Como test

This Saturday is the yearly Military cross band test, so who else is going to be working it? I've been testing my gear feed lines and antennas for 3 days now and everything is 110%. Took the field gear and tried it out last night and hit ever where I wanted so I'm looking forward to getting on the air both at the QTH and on top of the bump to see if I can hit them all again this year.

Annual Armed Forces Day Crossband Test Scheduled for May 11

Well it is approx 1655 Z and I've hit 14 of the 20 stations total,(some on 2 different bands) The Pentagon, the USS Midway, USS Yorktown and LST-325 on the river at Evansville Indiana, have been the highlight so far. A few stations won't be up until tomorrow. Mother nature is making it tough with the storms down south but so far she has not stopped us. Conditions are/were so bad, have/had to listen on one antenna and transmit on another to tag some so far. Just the amount of resetting for the transceiver, tuner, and Amp so far have kept me on my toes, with all the different freq's and emission mods used. Only voice to this point, later today we will switch to digital, which will be so much easier. Had to use every filter in the Receiver so for and, wish I had a few more to pick from, but such is radio life.
Schofield Barracks HI, and Camp Foster in Okinawa are my Primary targets this year and hope to tag them later today or tonight.
Good training, for down the road,...

Ended up with 15 of 20 total. Not bad but, I Failed,... as I did not tag the most important ones to me. Never heard 4 of the stations at all, could have been propagation or me so I'll blame me. Heard Japan but they were so far in the weeds do to static crashes we never hooked up. Training is always good, and I've never been threw any training gig I did not learn something, this one was no different.

One thing that changed is back in my day if you were supposed to be mission ready and at the door at 1200Z, showing up unprepared at 1330Z (or later) was not good. Guess new America thinks somewhat different,...
