Hello everyone! I'm an FNG on here from Idaho. I spend a lot of time on 2 other hunting based forums, but figured I could glean some information off of here for more shooting specific stuff. I love hunting, and usually my shooting is driven by supporting my hunting. Lately I have been wanting to get more long range shooting in, as I really enjoy all of the math behind it. I'll figure out cross canyon wind someday, I swear!

I am wondering what the most popular tripod is that people use for long'ish distance at a range or wherever. I know a lot of the tripods people use for hunting which are usually the lighter sleeker type. I'm prototyping some stuff and looking for input.

It's definitely not cheap but it's USA made and known as the best in the business. If you just want a head to attach to a stud look at RRS's universal leveling base, Anvil-30 or BH 55. You also look at Feisol ball heads or Sunwayfoto FB-52.

My RRS 34L and Anvil-30 combo is better than I could have imagined. Not really sure it’s possible to improve the product other than the price. Fast to deploy, rock solid lockup, and super stable. Holds my 23lb rifle like it was nothing.

The RRS 33 and 34 and the Anvil 30 is go to. I have played with lots of bargain tripods, just figuring out whether I would actually use one.

I dumped my bipod out of my hunting kit, and am selling stuff to buy the RRS.

I just commented on this thread. Aome good info there. Also look at other threads on the Hide.
