It is convenient to believe poor people are either stupid, working the system, or lazy, but there is more to it than that.
If you just once knew wtf you were talking about, you might get taken seriously.
Finish at least high school, get a job, get married, and have kids, IN THAT ORDER, and your chances of ever living in poverty are in the single digits.

Look it's a lefty site showing that study, so you might actually read it.

Libs keep their followers eating crumbs off the floor and tell them they are free crumbs. Their dumbass followers accept it.
Everyone has heard the old saying: Republicans are for the rich, democrats for the poor. The hidden implication of that saying is missed by many.
This means democrats have a vested interest in maintaining, or even expanding, the poverty class lest they lose their constituency.
It's the only thing they successfully do.

1st. This is not their argument they say poor people don't have an ID in the first place.

2nd. It wouldn't matter if the address wasn't up to date, they aren't getting pulled over for a traffic stop just needing an ID to get past the poll worker.

3rd. Anyone with a job they need to get off for likely has a valid ID.

4th. This not being able to make it to the polls is the biggest bunch of bullshit. They got 4 yrs notice on which day it is get the fuck out of here with that BS, (but I will give you this I do think they should change voting to at least two days Friday and Saturday and even maybe make it a federal holiday. That way you got one day during the week and one on the weekend that way there is no excuse for someone not being able to make it in person)

And let's be real here for a second why should something as important as the integrity of the election for the president of the United States be compromised because a very very small percentage of the population can't get their asses to the polls in person. You got 4 fucking years notice if it means so much for you to vote find a way to get your ass there millions of other Americans find a way to get there.

And, it's not all that hard to get a State ID if one needs one.... and *wants* one. And that might be part of the problem. Not "wanting" a govt. ID and, thus, being subject to whatever govt bureaucracy/scruitiny that entails.

I'd give it a whole week. My current county gives two. And early voting does solve a couple of problems. It eliminates the "Election day Crunch" that can happen and cause polling places to shut down, prematurely, depriving citizens of their voting opportunity. Bad weather, or machines breaking down, etc. etc. etc. Crowds overwhelming a polling place. All that could be mitigated by early voting at the polling places.... not by Mail in, unless the mail in ballot is specifically requested and approved, and sent in (postmarked) by Election day.

And again, I'm not opposed to mail-in (absentee) ballots in their classic context. That being, a person who simply cannot be there for the election day/week/whatever (either they're sick/hospitalized and can't travel or they're deployed in the MIlitary or out of town longer term, or whatever), and they request the ballot from their election commissioner in advance. They offer proof of ID as part of that request. And once approved, they have up until Election Day itself to get it postmarked and returned in the mail. I actually did that once in my current precinct. The website asked me to upload an image of my ID. No problem. I got the ballot in the mail directly from the commissioner's office, and I had it back to them within 2 days. They even confirmed they had received and counted it on their website.

Simple.

I cut and pasted a quote from the Internet, I wasn't there, don't think you were either.
I really don't get the pushback on the word democracy. When I hear it I get that it means the people have the power as opposed to fascism, socialism, communism etc. I think everyone knows we have a constitution and elect representatives. I can't think of a single democratic nation that is not a republic. I'll let nerdier people than I debate the nuances and labels.
My point was our elected representatives need to transfer power when they lose, not try to subvert it and if someone tried to do that we should not let them try again.
You most of all

I wish they made it a national holiday and mandatory as well. No more stupid wedge issues and fear slinging to get people to show You don't vote, no benefits, no tax returns, etc. Seriously you have one job as a citizen.
You get the twins because you are twice as annoying

My last company had about a hundred warehouse workers, mostly Black and Hispanic, living paycheck to paycheck. They couldn't afford to take a day off, most were begging for overtime. Even if they wanted time off we couldn't let more than 5% go on any day without operational impacts. The corporate office where I worked is a ghost town most of the day, all the executives like myself don't have to take time off, we are salary and get paid to vote. It is convenient to believe poor people are either stupid, working the system, or lazy, but there is more to it than that.
So........you worked for a shitty company and it's society's "fault". Gotcha.

For as far back as I can remember, every company I've ever worked for allowed their employees to go vote in person without docking their pay, regardless of who they were, salaried or hourly. One of my more recent employers enthusiastically maintained my full pay when I got pulled for two weeks of jury duty.

But, I'm sure I'm just benefitting from my "white privilege".....

Oh, and I was pretty much always "salaried". Which meant 70 + hour work weeks (where I wasn't getting paid beyond 40 hours).

Quit whining. You, blacks and hispanics are far from the only people that have ever faced having to work hard and make sacrifices.

Actually, both of you are correct.

Libs keep their followers eating crumbs off the floor and tell them they are free crumbs. Their dumbass followers accept it.

The fat off the hog goes into the Liberal Politicans pockets. Why else would they cheat their way into a sub $300K salary like they do? Why else would they become multi-millionaires while holding office of said salary?

Working citizens are tax mules, to line the pockets of politicians. Free loaders are good with the situation, because they don't have to lift a finger to survive.

Non free loaders are getting the raw end of the deal.

Here are the odds, according to Vegas:

Donald Trump 11/8
Joe Biden 15/8
Nikki Haley 15/2
Gavin Newsom 10/1
Robert Kennedy Jr. 22/1
Michelle Obama 25/1
Ron DeSantis 40/1
Kamala Harris 45/1
Vivek Ramaswamy 60/1
Joe Manchin 80/1
Elizabeth Warren 80/1
All Other Candidates listed at 100/1 or higher

And I can't fathom how Biden is as high as he is. Must be the fact that the probability of another stolen election is so high.
