I do all my dissasembly in a plastic bag now....
"What I should have done the first time"
Changing barrels on an old Ruger MK-II target, safety detent launched "somewhere".
Did a thorough search of the area, gave up.
Days later, something on the floor got stuck in my foot.
"Found it"

My educational experience was with a S&W M&P trigger detent and spring in a very dirty and messy garage. A tough lesson.

Tikka extractor detent. I said SHIT! My stepson was working on Cerakoting a barreled action at the other end of the shop. He walked over to me and asked what happened, then started helping me look for it. I said "This is not a 2400 square foot shop, this is a 345,600 square inch shop."

When building my 1st AR-15 from scratch, I was smart enough to us the lid from a box of computer paper in which to work with these springs/detents. But it wasn't enough. You know those springs can jump right out of that box lid when you don't want them to....

I got a big magnet I drag around on the floor when I lose springs and pins and clips. Sometimes I find what I’m looking for, sometimes I find what I looked for 2 years ago.

When I look at that I think “ Dentist “ first.
Either then or a few months later get ready ! 😖

I went to one of my dad's dental classmates when living in the Chicago area. He had a sign atop his waiting room that said, "Eat Candy! Support your local Dentist!"

But it's not just the dentist. It's also the "endocrinologist" (Type II DIabetes).

My magnet must suck ! The Woodsman spring has stayed ….uh , misplaced for over 20 years now. In 1936 it probably cost .20 cents , I paid $ 10.00 for an original spring and was happy as a pig in shit to find it. Hell , I may go look for it 🤔
