I sometimes wonder if there's some lying bastard out there with this sign in his yard, and his Remington 870 ready and waiting for anyone who believes it. If cops can have "bait cars"...

I wondered "who would bother to rob that house?" All you would get is a few bottles of chardonney, a carved Etruscan soapstone joss-stick holder, a Barbara Streisand CD box set and probably a case of crabs. If you want to score a gold Rolex, a coin collection and a good stereo, rob a Republican. Gunshot wound, maybe. Good loot, For sure!

Now, now...let's not jump to conclusions here.
It's important to read the entire sign and determine it's true intent.
First and foremost, is the statement that the group is against "senseless violence".
Says nothing about those who deserve what's coming to 'em.
Many times, violence not only makes sense, but is the best solution to a problem.
As to the proclamation that the "home is proudly gun free", well, some folks are aware
of their limitations, and it's good that they realize it and work within that reality.
Finally, the sign says nothing about edged weapons, cudgels, crossbows,
shuriken, darts, attack trained canines or household chemicals that can be liberally applied
to deal with unwanted visitors that may enter the premises uninvited.
It's important to remember that firearms aren't the only effective weapons in the arsenal,
a home is full of handy dandy items that can be used to facilitate "necessary violence."
Seems to me that the homeowner is confident in his abilities to defend his home
and is simply offering fair warning to the rest of us to be ready for unconventional weapons.
Just saying...;^)

Nice vid, Sir. Check out the little road a 1:40. I was on one like that in Central America. All the vehicles had stopped because of a landslide. It had been raining steady for 3 weeks. There as a 1000 foot drop to the right and 1000 ft straight up on the left. Chunks of rock as big as you head were bouncing down and you knew that if the mt. above you collapsed there was no where to go but down. were crying and people wanted to abandon their cars but the cops made them stay because if they left the road would be blocked. Finally after about two hours they cleared enough to get around and we all went on our way. Always makes me stop and think.

^^^ The Long Way Round and the Long Way Down are amazing adventures. My Nordkapp trip was in part inspired by that. Intent had been to go down into Russia after, but no joy on the visas. What a PITA that was... but Kirkenes is a hoot. It's like Tombstone Arizona in 1880 if Tombstone were full of Russian mobsters and cruise ship passengers. But you can't go that far North without going to Kirkenes.

There used to be a MC thread around here... have to go dig it up and return this thread back to the soft-core porn pictures.
