Im a small guy. Was bullied when I was a kid. Apparently head of the chess team and being a mathlete gets no respect..... ?
No matter what happened before, the old guy is being a douche. A good kick to his old saggy nuts and a bony cyclist knee to his Bell’s Palsy face a couple times will sort him out.

And yes, there are douche cyclist who do stupid stuff all the time.
I probably yell at them more than @sirhrmechanic as it annoys me to have them making a crap name for all who like to ride.

Fuckle Huckleberry was pure gold!
Dead right or dead wrong, auto wins the auto vs bike contest every time.
I don't road ride anymore and did to best to stay out of the cars way when I did. Many riders today don't seem to grasp that getting hit by a car is going to fuck you up regardless of your legal right to ride in a traffic lane or not.

I am not sure, but i think bicyclist fags are THE worst. Wait, no, thats the harley wannabe bikers, but fuck is it close. Well, i am still not sure, maybe its feminists who are the worst, but fuck me is it so damn close. Thought about it some more, its the environmentalists , for sure, but those others.....

No sympathy for the oblivious, road hogs that cyclists are. They think they own the road, but when the rubber meets the road, 3000+lbs of steel will win no matter what. Esp pisses my off when they fucking drift over in front of cars

As much as I wanna side against the blowhard surfer boomer, I just can't! When I first started legally driving on public roads there was 2 main obstacles. Stop signs and cyclists. They are just as delusional as those who drive light cars and zip around through traffic on the highway and think that 20+ ton tractor-trailers can stop on a dime.

SO you cite 21760??

ARTICLE 3. Overtaking and Passing [21750 - 21761]
( Article 3 enacted by Stats. 1959, Ch. 3. )

21760.
(a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the Three Feet for Safety Act.
(b) The driver of a motor vehicle overtaking and passing a bicycle that is proceeding in the same direction on a highway shall pass in compliance with the requirements of this article applicable to overtaking and passing a vehicle, and shall do so at a safe distance that does not interfere with the safe operation of the overtaken bicycle, having due regard for the size and speed of the motor vehicle and the bicycle, traffic conditions, weather, visibility, and the surface and width of the highway.
(c) A driver of a motor vehicle shall not overtake or pass a bicycle proceeding in the same direction on a highway at a distance of less than three feet between any part of the motor vehicle and any part of the bicycle or its operator.
(d) If the driver of a motor vehicle is unable to comply with subdivision (c), due to traffic or roadway conditions, the driver shall slow to a speed that is reasonable and prudent, and may pass only when doing so would not endanger the safety of the operator of the bicycle, taking into account the size and speed of the motor vehicle and bicycle, traffic conditions, weather, visibility, and surface and width of the highway.
(e) (1) A violation of subdivision (b), (c), or (d) is an infraction punishable by a fine of thirty-five dollars ($35).
(2) If a collision occurs between a motor vehicle and a bicycle causing bodily injury to the operator of the bicycle, and the driver of the motor vehicle is found to be in violation of subdivision (b), (c), or (d), a two-hundred-twenty-dollar ($220) fine shall be imposed on that driver.
(f) This section shall become operative on September 16, 2014.

Without seeing the whole scene played out I surmise the following: The "surfer" passed too close to the "biker" by the "biker's" opinion. The biker yelled out something.....the rest is the video. Sorry biker but unless the whole video is shown I'm not buying your feelings got hurt. Which it's even given in CA DMV that bicycles are to be as far right as possible in the lane they are operating in.

Bicycles In Travel Lanes
Bicyclists traveling slower than the flow of traffic must ride as close as practicable to the right curb or edge of the roadway except in the following situations:

  • Passing a vehicle or another bicycle in the same direction.
  • Preparing to make a left turn at an intersection, into a private road, or at a driveway.
  • When necessary to avoid a hazard or road condition (i.e., pedestrians, animals, surface hazards).
  • When a lane is too narrow for a bicycle and a vehicle to travel safely side-by- side within the lane.
  • When approaching a right turn.
  • If the roadway is a one-way road with two or more lanes. In this case, a bicyclist may ride near the left curb or edge of roadway as practicable. With any slow-moving vehicle or bicycle, drivers should follow at a safe distance and, when it is safe, the bicyclist should move to a position that allows vehicles to pass.
As far as Sharrows are concerned:

• Shared Roadway Bicycle Markings (Sharrows) — Alerts traffic that bicyclists are allowed to occupy this travel lane. When used appropriately, sharrows can also help bicyclists to maintain a safe lane position.

So as a "biker" you don't "own" the whole lane when it's marked as such. It's there for driver's to stay alert.

That would have ended very poorly for the biker guy in this case...very poorly.

He did the right thing TBH and didnt really escalate the issue any further.
