I'm having Mike at underground skunkworks build my first custom rig. Rem .308 sa McMillian HTG stock barliten barrel 20" do it all rig. My problem is a scope for it. This will be a do it all rig brush busten bears, feild tree stand deer hunting, ground hogs, and just punchin paper for beer money. What I'm looking for in a scope is low power (huge) feild of view and top end 10X for longer shots 6-700 yards or as much elevation as scope has. Seems most good scopes don't have low power or if they do its still limited feild of view? I would really like around 60 ft at 100 yards low power. What do you guys think? Open to ideas. I would like turrets...

Re: need help with hunting scope

Get a rail on it and use 2 scopes. Not gonna find what you want in one scope. A 1.5-6X42 is just about ideal for hunting big game at any reasonable distance.. Then mount a higher powered variable with turrets for everything else. Or comprimise on low end fov and get the NF 2.5-10x32

Re: need help with hunting scope

I'm slowly talking my self into a USO 1.8-10 for this very application. I will probably go with a 37mm objective, but if you need more light you can get a 44mm as well. It just seems to be only one that gets everything in one package, and the only compromise is a little extra weight. I would love to hear from more owners of this scope. My list of wants is: good glass, ffp, 2-10 power range, mil/mil, parallax adjust and low profile turrets. I found that I can get most of those features in a handful of scopes, but the USO is the only one with all of them. If you don't need all these things you may be able to save some money. SS 3-9x42, Bushnell 3-12x44...
