I currently have AICS stock with thumbhole and i'm looking to replace with either the new AICS pistol grip skins or Viperskins.
I have searched but not found to much info on new AICS skins and was wondering anyone have them and how they compare to factory thumbhole and victor company viperskins.

Thanks James

Re: New AICS pistol grip skins vs Viperskins

I just got some AI pistol grip sinks from MHSC to replace stock 1.5 thumbhole skins. I don't have the viperskins, so I'm not a good one to compare. The AICS ones are good. Fit is a bit better than the stock skins. "Downside" is that like viperskins, you still have to drill a hole in an older 1.5 chassis since the skins are all the same for 1.5's and 2.0's.

TAG. I also am interested in people's opinion on the AI pistol grips versus the Viper skins.

ya, to mount them on the 1.5 you need to drill a hole through the rear section of the aluminum chassis. It took me about 5 minutes from start to finish to remove the old skins lay out the hole location, drill the hole and install the new skins.

Re: New AICS pistol grip skins vs Viperskins

I replaced the stock thumbhole on my new style aics with a set of viperskins. I did not need to drill any holes. I actually put a set of ai ae viperskins on it. Just needed to open the bolt notch in the skins. Looks better then the old style skins on a new style chassis. The viperskins look and feel superior to the factory skins. They fit excellent and don't have any gaps like the ai thumbhole. The quality, texture and fit of the viperskins is like a Mercedes, while the factory skins were about like a ford escort. Obviously the factory skins are solid and tough enough, but the viperskins are that much better.

Yeah - I see that the newer version of the Viperskins for 1.5's are one-piece (excluding the grip back) and do NOT require the extra hole to be drilled. I also see that they modified them to allow the use of the Accushot monopod. Props to them for listening and making those simple changes. I bought the AI ones for one of my AICS's, but I may buy a Viperskins for the one AICS I have to compare the two. Hmmm...
