I want to build a new rifle. I’m lefty so options aren’t limited. I’m thinking tikka t3 with and throw it in a masterpiece arms BA chassis.

or

rem 700 in a KRG X-ray.

both builds are about the same price. So let me know! Thanks in advanced.

Factory Remington 700? Their site isn't showing in left handed.

Tikka for sure.

Shouldered prefits are available.
One of the best factory triggers.
Doesn't need blueprinting.
Can get a lefty in stainless.

Which caliber and what are you wanting to do with it? I'm pretty good at figuring out which models are available. Being lefty can stink on options.

I put this together a while ago. Tikka buying guide.

Doing 6.5 creedmoor. I found a masterpiece arms chassis on eurooptic for discounted. So about $850 for the tikka and $650 for the chassis. Boom. The only thing that sucks is I can’t find one with a threaded barrel. Does it cost a lot to have one threaded?

Left handed 6.5 creed you're mostly limited to the lite/ hunter unless you go tac a1. They don't import the ctr in lefty.

They are a little small on muzzle end. My lite stainless measures 0.617". LRI does great threads the right way. I wouldn't go smaller than 9/16-24. Problem is that min shoulder diameter is generally ~0.662". What are you wanting to put on the threads?

I shoot long guns lefty because I'm left eye dominant. I've always just used right handed bolts and worked them with my left hand.

A good option if you are okay with doing a bit more work would be to buy a T3x lite for $550 self off the stock and barrel for $200 then buy a prefit barrel of your choice for $400.

Would put you at roughly $750 for the rifle but you can get the barrel threaded and in the exact contour you like. The cost of the tools to build it would be a bit more but it you will need them anyways when you shoot out the barrel and have to replace it.

I can tell you, as the owner of a tikka T3 Sporter LEFTY in 308, there is no comparison. My tikka has silky smooth action, and is 0.5MOA all day long. You will not be disappointed.

Hopefully I’m not high jacking the thread (pardon me please if I do) but where do I get a t3x lite lefty for $550 and what brand for $400 profit barrel? 0:)

Tikka/MPA is a whole level above rem700/KRG bravo. I know that may tweak some of the KRG fans in the group. I own a few bravos, and they are amazing for their price point. But you are comparing a $350 chassis vs a $850 chassis.

Don’t waste your time with the 700, tikka can be had for just as cheap and is in a completely different league.

^^^ a great action and rifle. somewhat unappreciated, and very well priced. The other I might look at, but not sure if they do left hand, is Bergara. Maybe one small notch below Tikka as a rifle (their actions are very average), but nicely done at a great value point.

If you find the action you really like and want to move up a few notches in the overall rifle, do consider Cadex. We are a Tikka and Bergara dealer, but Cadex is in a class of its own. One generation ahead of AI in terms of chassis. Their actions are very good as well, but at a higher price point than Tikka.

Sorry I missed the left hand part, I have seen right hand rifles for as cheap as $530 but the left handed models usually are around $650.

Criterion makes prefits in that range as well as mcgowan who makes the blanks for carbon6 barrels. I believe preferred barrel blanks and x-caliber are also close to that price point but don’t know much about those.

And is there really a market for a takeoff lite barrel and stock?

Definitely a market for the barrels, tikka barrels are known shooters and usually sell quick as long as it’s a common caliber. Stock, bottom metal and mag usually take a bit longer but people do look for them.
