Well,

I recently picked up a fresh Remington 700 SPS-V in .308 rigged out. Basically picked her up for a future build as I had plans to send one to Landtec to have Mr. Landon work his magic.

I got the rifle rigged as pictured, .308 SPS-V action, Mc A4 w/Badger bottom metal, 20 moa rail, Bushnell 3200 Elite 5x15 and the Harris SBRM. The only thing I added was a Pod-Loc and ammo.

Made the fatal mistake of heading to the departmental range today to see what she'd do as the previous owner stated she'd only had 140 rounds down the tube.

Here was the result.....

Think I'll hold off on the build a while!

Re: New rig...range report

Good deal. I did the same with a 300WSM SPS-V. Have the barrel at the house to get it fitted. Dropped the barreled action into an A5 and it shoots around .5MOA with RE17 and 185 Bergers. Think I'm going to drive it as is for a year or so. Mine gets horizontal stings also. What's the deal???

try having it bedded and it wont jump....
Its nearly impossible to drop an action into a fiberglass stock and have it not bedded. Accuracy will suffer for sure.

Re: New rig...range report

Hey law dog, I'd still take that stick to Randy and have him lap the lugs and rails. He'll recrown the muzzle, set the barrel back and check the headspace. It may not improve your accuracy all that much but It'll damn sure feel nice! It won't cost you much if anything either!! I'll be seeing him this week if you want me to see when he might be able to work on it for you. He's been laid up a little from surgery but he's getting back to business. And I thought we were gonna get together and shoot?

PS: Looks nice by the way!!

Re: New rig...range report

Hey Chuck,

Thanks for the comment on the rig. Been outta the loop on my posts. Didn't know Randy had been laid up. Tell him we said hello and prayers for a speedy recovery. Planning on calling him here in the near future. Gotta get together and shoot and been meaning to look you up. The twins have kept me and the wife busy but I'll be giving you a shout.

FYI, got inservice just south of you in December. Be giving you a shout!
