After seeing some mega pitted regular plate on the 200yd line at the range I decided we needed some AR500 to shoot safely at. The frame is 2"x2"x3/16" angle 24"x24" with 36" feet to keep it from flipping. The frame was leftover scrap from building a fold down trailer tailgate and the AR....well there is a lot of in the industry I work in
This is the second one, the first was just like only the round disk was welded to 1.5"x.5" flat bar in the back to swing from. The flat bar was turned narrow and ran down 4" behind the 7.5" disk of AR500 that was .800" gauge. It lasted about three months at the local range before weld broke....
To eliminate the weld breakage I cut this disk out with a tail heated that up and folded it back down to be self suspending sorta has its own handle. It to is 7.5" diameter with about 10" of tail with fold over at the top. This one is .400 gauge AR500
My thinking was to be able to hang this one off of a fence or on a chain between trees so don't have to carry the stand too when in the woods. I have another disk that is .800"x7.5" AR500 that I plan to pop some holes in to hang from chains. For those wondering the diameter is the same size of a paint can....
My brother has a big blast pot at his job so we will blast all the rust off and paint the frame to. It was 7018 together in about a hour of spare time.
i would like to get some .250" AR500 to add a small whirleebird from the top corner for rimfire plinkin, we'll see.
