I’m jumping in the NFA flashpan for the first time with a suppressor purchase (Larue Tranquilo M308). I am leaning towards applying as a trust as opposed to individual, and have a couple questions here I hope I could get some guidance on. I have read a ton of stuff on 41F, but would like some verification of my understanding if that makes sense...

So I gather that I can file as a trust, I fill out the 5320 as responsible person, include prints and photos, etc. My trust is only me myself and I, as settlor and trustee. When I get ATF approval and tax stamp in hand, I can conduct an amendment to my trust, and add beneficiaries to it, ie my wife and kids, my father, in the event something happens to me, and also to decriminalize them for potentially having access to my gun room. In doing so with this amendment, there’s no ATF notification, no prints, photos, etc.

Whereas if I listed those people on the trust from the start, I WOULD have to fill out. 5320 with prints and photos and he whole nine yards.

Is this an accurate restatement of the rules and/or process?

I wouldn’t have any issue with the other trust members as far as the 4473 or providing any of the info, or anything like that, but it’s a pain so I’m hoping the amendment route is legit?

Thanks

I dont think having these people as beneficiaries will decriminalize their access to the nfa items. They would need to be added as trustees as well.

I am new to this as well so if i am wrong i would like to know.
