Are you referring to the dual muzzle brakes?Tracking velocity and POI are very useful, as is using the device in the pic below.
Nothing new but very effective, consistency is everything. View attachment 7593582

Is that a math problem you want us to solve to verify the range is correct? How about this?
1 minute tall / quarter-minute wide at 2000 yards.
Or a standard square or circle?
Something repeatable.
Hi,
Sounds like Hoplite Arms last month....
2 different manufacturers ammunition in 2 different bullet weights in the new custom ziploc cartridge cases, lolol

Yes, tuner and ’bloop tube’. The brake behind it is extremely effective. Are you referring to the dual muzzle brakes?
That is a great example and extremely simple .It would certainly be challenging. I do like any gun any sight format but I have never liked the hit to move on rule . I understand it is a necessary evil but still hate it lol. I think the draw or allure to a shooter like me is to shoot all of the distances at least for the money I paid to do it. Many times I sucked on the short targets but could not miss on the longer targets so I hope I dont suck on that first target . The thought of going out in three shots in a monthly match is scary however if it was 5 shot to move on I would feel I little better about risking going to the match. The terrain is a factor as well, if it is flatland I am in but if it is in mountains and rock cliffs I am risking getting bit by updrafts and mirage shifts and that scares me a bit more so the risk of getting knocked out early goes up.. That is tough to handle when spending 1000.00 or more for the trip to do it at least in my present financial state .Hi Tim,
I completely understand the "O shit, I hit that" mentality as well as the CHALLENGE mentality.
Question....would the challenge NOT be the same if an ELR match went something like this:
T1 @1500 yards. Any gun, Any sight system. Target size is 1MOA. Must hit 2 of 3 to move on.
T2 @2000 yards. Any gun, Any sight system. Target size is 1MOA. Must hit 2 of 3 to move on.
T3 @2500 yards. Any gun, Any sight system. Target size is 1 MOA. Must hit 2 of 3 to move on.
Continue the distances until nobody makes it.
IF that is not challenging enough then drop target size down to 3/4MOA, then 1/2MOA???
Because one of the keys into getting your barrel system into the .mil hands is to show exactly the above more than farther/larger combinations, IMO that is.
We have production model Aspis set for completion first of May. I am trying to expedite a few things for 375 Swiss P by then but can throw a 300NM together and make the visit to Spearpoint for sure.
Sincerely,
Theis
The more you shoot these matches, the more you dislike the hit to move on. A guy catches bad timing with the wind for 5-6 minutes while shooting the short target and you’re out. That is a great example and extremely simple .It would certainly be challenging. I still remember back in the very early days of the Hide when the same pissing match, arm chair shooters and those who knew everything would eat up on a shooter who hit a 1000 yard target with a 338LM, It just never ends. But yet the industry has been pushed and now folks are screaming the same negatively while the 4000 yard window is being pushed.
Honestly I think this whole discussion took a wrong turn when a fellow shooter who was jacked/excited about someone else’s accomplishment accidentally used the word world record versus new longest hit in competition under the clock or new personal best In the title of this thread.
Good points have been made but many statements as far as the accuracy, inconsistency and others are null. Maybe some of you folks are used to having the extreme spreads in your speed and tend to spray bullets all over but a lot of the equipment used in theses events are accurate and can achieve very tight verticals at distance if they didn’t you would not see the repetitive impacts plates and scores. I for one knows what it takes and have proved it on targets in the past. For most it’s more of a game against the wind pushing the bullet left and right as well as the bullet up and down due to wind currents and the terrain. Thats the real challenge to understand and correct off of with limited shots and the clock ticking away.
After reading all the comments its very obvious that everyone seems to have their own idea as to how a event should be run and what shape and size the targets should be, heck this is a prime example as to why the event organizers have the same problem. If you think a certain range has a bogus set of targets or format then find something that fits your needs and go shoot there instead, but just maybe you could attend one of these so called events that have the large plates and a boat full of shooters with poor skills and sub par equipment and go kick there butts it should be like taking candy from someone if its as easy as you say.
Its to bad everyone had to have a shit storm on a thread where someone was pretty proud of their accomplishments or of a fellow shooters accomplishment. Then you wonder why the shooting community struggles at times with growth hell I wonder what a new up and coming shooter wanting to stretch things out beyond his goals must think after reading 4 pages of what?
Cheers

With a hit rate sometimes around 5-10%. Again, I wouldn't dispute that there is a lot of skill required to get 5-10% in that situation instead of 0%, but I think it's a valid question whether that's too far to build a competition around.Mark in Australia shoots beyond this distance with only a 2 foot square targets....!
I’ve watched a lot of their videos and had they ran a 36”plate often they’d have a vastly higher % than what you gave them. With a hit rate sometimes around 5-10%. Yeah, it's hard to say, we don't know how many shots are shown vs not, nor do I have time to keep track, but some of the videos have been very low hit rates. And I specifically said I think they must have a lot of skill (this, for the reading impaired, means they have my respect as well).I’ve watched a lot of their videos and had they ran a 36”plate often they’d have a vastly higher % than what you gave them.
That the challenge is more important than the hit to them is why they have my respect.
Plus, many of his videos are with new builds that haven't even been fired yet, and he still gets spot on at those distances pretty quickly. I saw him shoot almost a 1/4 MOA at 3000 yards with a 300 Norma in just 4 shots.I’ve watched a lot of their videos and had they ran a 36”plate often they’d have a vastly higher % than what you gave them.

Wouldn't that be a 0.57 MOA target? I think you'd need the whole baseball field. Maybe Ko2M 2022?Yes, the bigger the targets the higher the probability of an impact.
Guys, hear me out. Baseball diamond. 15,000 yards. Lob on in there. New world record.
I’d certainly travel somewhere to do it.Yeah, it's hard to say, we don't know how many shots are shown vs not, nor do I have time to keep track, but some of the videos have been very low hit rates. Would I do the same thing if I had a convenient location with that much land? Absolutely! Would I expect people to travel from all over the country for a competition with a hit rate of 10%? No way. Is there any practical value of such an exercise? I really don't think so.
Exactly. I have to drive six hours to go past 1000 yards, and that's worth it to me every now and then, although I can't do that often enough to expect to be very good. But I flew to a match where in the final round the hit rate was 6% across all competitors. That, to me, is not really worth it and involves too much luck to hold my interest. (Again, there's skill too—it's like poker in that respect.)I’d certainly travel somewhere to do it.
But I’m not paying match fees or range fees
It’s still more than double what the “1/4 minute all day” guys shoot, and let’s be real here. A world record needs to be sub MOA. It’s 2021. Even Bergara guarantees it.Wouldn't that be a 0.57 MOA target? I think you'd need the whole baseball field. Maybe Ko2M 2022?
And he shoots in MOA and measures his misses in axe handles I mean targets.Plus, many of his videos are with new builds that haven't even been fired yet, and he still gets spot on at those distances pretty quickly. I saw him shoot almost a 1/4 MOA at 3000 yards with a 300 Norma in just 4 shots.
I was voice texting but that's all that you took away from what this actually is
Ok so lets dive into this. Im a very busy guy 6 kids so i chose to voice text and yes that is what is suppose to happen right? Well i have sprint T-Mobile bought them out right? So phones have been getting upgrades ect so my voice texting hasnt been working great so when i say period it spells out the word 90% of time right now. The network has been terrible and my phone is all messed not working. But i will add go to tech school to my list of things. Sniperhide tech.........Voice texting understands the word period, comma, question mark and exclamation mark.

I am a former member of Core, Now Altus down in Baker, Fl and have shot Spearpoint. Don't let the pheasant hunting thing fool anyone. It is a really fun and very challenging place to shoot a normal PRS type match out to 1200 yds or so. They were just getting the ELR thing going when I left, but a difficult place to read the wind due to terrain. It's worth the trip if the chance allows to shoot there. A good place to chase "ditch chickens" too.2 of my regular locations use 1 to 1.5 MOA targets, hard work on a windy day... Maybe a target standard size
is something to be discussed, difficult to get people to agree on rules/ regs already though.
Must have been windy at that comp looking at the scores, was it in Kansas? EDIT; just googled Spearpoint,
they have pheasant hunts there; how about ELR pheasant targets?

Hey is a gd troll did the same shit to me last week...guy is a drag on this communityThe FCSA is an international organization with chapters in England, Australia and Switzerland. It sanctions ELR matches here in the states including King of 2 Miles. All King bannered matches are FCSA sanctioned and the list of countries with King bannered matches is Canada, France, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, South Africa and England. So we are both an international sanctioning body and a sanctioner of international ELR matches.
So your truth seems to be mostly an issue of lack of knowledge combined with an unrelentingly negative response to damn near anything in the sport. The fact that you are such a cunt contributes to the fact that virtually nobody in the industry is willing to come here. Not only do you contribute nothing to ELR, but you are actually hurting the sport by being a useless troll.

Glad someone said it...surprised the hide lets this guy run amuck. With all his accolades you think he would have more respect for fellow members and tbis community.I vastly prefer to settle discussions with rationale and facts. Thesis seems immune to such things and the number of times he has responded to peoples achievements or legitimate questions with degradation means the "cunt" shoe simply fits. He has been mentioned to me specifically as the reason a number of people in the match directing side of things and the manufacturing side of things simply don't come here. There are trolls on most forums, he is this ones worst offender. There is no point in tolerating such people, it only encourages them to behave worse so they can get a reaction out of someone. That is his purpose here. It isn't sharing information or intelligent discussion. He spends all his time here because he is a looser with nothing better to do than rile people up all day.

You are too intimidated to ask any questions? But not too intimidated to throw down this very passive-aggressive gauntlet? So I joined this group, club, organization to get some pointers on reaching out to 1000 yards. However the verbal beatings some people have taken here makes me apprehensive to ask any questions or post any responses in threads. I guess I'll just stick to reading and hope someone asks the question I wanted to ask eventually.
