    Hi THEIS

I'm the MD for those shoots. We started running 'Gunslinger' long range competitions about nine years ago, and soon after starting we offered long range qualifications - with patches / badges for achievement - at distances of 1000m, 1200m, 1620m (1 mile) and 2000m. And on military Echo silhouette targets. We've had something close to 50 shooters 'badged' at 1000m (at least 2 impacts from 5 in five minutes, and eight shooters 'badged' at 2000m (at least 1 impact from 5 in five minutes). We get shooters from New Caledonia, Australia, and a few temporary kiwis from the USA. We do these as add-ons to field-style competitions. We have also found that people are increasingly attracted to getting recognition for achievement (rather than just the placings in a competition).

The ELR event is new and is under development because we want to get on and use the standards being discussed in some of the other threads here on SH. And I'm in discussion with some of the people associated with those standards. I think there's some real value in whats happening from last year and this year with ELR.

New Zealand has a strong hunting culture, so foreign visitors entering and leaving NZ with firearms is a pretty straightforward process. And I'm always happy to assist anyone coming this way.

    Hi Shane,

Is your organization setup to provide formal invites and New Zealand temporary import permits so that USA shooters can apply for a temporary export permit on our side of the pond?

    Welcome to "The Hide".

    Sincerely,
    Theis

The NZ import permit is applied for online http://www.police.govt.nz/advice/firearms-and-safety/visitors-firearms-licence-and-import-permits and doesn't require a formal invitation. We have sometimes been asked by Police to confirm that someone has registered for / is coming to a Gunslinger event. Some hunters must just bring a rifle in and then do their own thing without a guide as we have plenty of 'free' Department of Conservation hunting areas (they require hunting permits for a nominal charge).

We are a company (rather than a club) so am happy to provide formal invitations if required. We've done similar to support a Kiwi shooter who wanted to import something quite exotic!

    Thanks for the welcome, THEIS.
