Hey guys,
Newb! Let’s begin with, I know nothing. I am excited to get into the sport. I am a former marine. I qualified expert 4 times. That is the extent of my knowledge. I am a helicopter EMS pilot.
I have a family and therefore a budget. I am having a rifle built. Nothing is set in stone, with the rifle, so all help is welcomed. So far, I have decided to get a Macmillan A5 with Remington 700 action and surgeon bottom metal. Maybe a Schillen barrel. I don’t know which scope will fit my budget and still be good for competition. I am thinking a NF 5x25 56. Hopefully I can find a used one.
I was referred to this sight by a long range shooter in MS area. I am conflicted about which caliber, 6.5 or 308? 6.5 seems to be the way everyone is leaning.
I think I will compete in PRS.
Thanks

Welcome from Indiana!

I shoot .308 just because the 6.5 wasn't really a big thing when I started. It's a good caliber. Been around for a loooong time compared to the creedmore. I'm a little old school so I'm sticking with it for now.
I'm sure that in the future, when finances allow it, I'll end up building a 6.5 Creedmore. It does have better ballistics.

Search the forum. There's a lot of good info already posted, but don't be shy and ask your questions!
