Newman Precision M700 Short Action DBM

Jerry has been working on this DBM for a lil over a year now. I have a prototype that has been sitting in my safe since before the 2011 Shot Show. Looks almost like the USA DBM being sold.

Specs:
Uses the industry standard Badger M5 inlet.
M700 Short Action. Long Action DBM is in the works.
Price point: Under 200.00 shipped with pillars and screws.

First impressions:

It took me a minute to get use to the BM hanging out below the stock line. However, the design makes it very easy to index a magazine and reload quickly. The mag well was designed around an Alpha Mag so an AICS has a lil play which makes reloading a breeze.

Both the Alpha and AICS mags drop free easily. I did a quick function test after installation, and rounds fed perfectly. I'll be doing a live fire test next weekend some time and will post more on functionality.

The other feature I like is the mag release. It is of ambidextrous design, so lefties or righties shouldn't have any problems.

lol, just kidding man. I for one am glad to see yet another alternative hit the market. People really have no excuse to bitch these days since there are really a plethora of options to be had for both design and price.

Jerry Newman is synonomous with "Great Guy." I had him build a .30/06 for me and he was wonderful to work with. He is detail oriented and great gentleman. But I should have expected nothing less. I was referred to him by Terry Cross.

Mr Newman trued and barreled a 700 short action in .308. It is by far the most accurate rifle I have, and the work is spectacular. I didn't realize he was making these DBMs. I will buy one of these ASAP. Thanks for the review.

Got mine in today. Popped out the Badger and it popped right in it's spot. Great fit. Slammed some mags in and it locked up tight and dropped freely.

Good job Jerry. Nice product.

Had a chance to use this bottom metal other day... Dropped right in no issues ... Magazine inserted ... Dropped and fed flawlessly.

Got to run the NP DBM this weekend, and it ran perfectly.

Everyone that had a chance to play with it liked the design and how it helped with mag changes.

Will be running it in a few matches over the next few weeks and report back.

From the second and third pic it appears to be a two piece assembly? I am assuming it is one piece and that is a reference line or some such? Overall, it looks absolutely top-notch.

One piece, everything below that line hangs below the stock line.

Another + is that it does not need to be milled out for a LH Jewell trigger.

Jerry's a great guy. We live in the same town and see him quite a bit. Super to talk too and he's getting my box of parts next week for a 7mm SAUM build.

Can't wait!! I'll support him for sure!

Ran both the 308 and my 260 this past weekend at two matches and things ran flawlessly.

Reloads were very quick with Jerry's DBM.

I picked up a Surgeon DBM at RiflesOnly this weekend and it just so happened one of Jerry's neighbors was there and needed a Surgeon for a stock he just got and swapped me. Newman DBM shipping my way in the next day or two!!

I got mine the other day as well and it is a very well thought out and crafted DBM!!

If you are looking for one I highly recommend it.
