Nice work officer Briggs

Re: Nice work officer Briggs

Yea maggot this was posted here a couple of days ago. Didn't get many responses due to the positive light of the story.

Either way, good find and good work Kevin.

Re: Nice work officer Briggs

What a great story a true hero. Sad more positive stories about law enforcement aren't given press. Im tired of all the negative press especially all the bashing on the Hide.

Ive been trying to put up good ones so wen the bad ones come up its not called "bashing" but rather just reporting the truth. There ARE a lot of dirty cops out there...just like a lot of dirty banksters, physicians, pilots who blow a line of coke before a flight, etc. Its only fair to show both sides.

Re: Nice work officer Briggs

I have to correct you there aren't alot of dirty cops out there. Ive been a cop for 13yrs and in large dept like the NYPD the amount of corrupt cops is so small. In general there are bad people out there and most law enforcement do their jobs and do it well. If we have 35,000 people in our dept and a few who are dirty thats pretty good odds. What I mean about bashing is Im tired of hearing only the bad or stupid interaction people have with cops.

Thats why I post the good ones. This has been discussed before, and Id have to (respectfully)disagree. Just check youtube and youll find plenty of videos attesting to that. Like everything else, there is a bell curve, with so many great individuals, mostly average, and a percentage roughly equal to the great ones, of crooks. Those percentages hold across pretty much every group. Is just the way it is. No disrespect to you or your dept. but NYC is famous for having guys on the take...as is Miami, Fla. I have friends that had to leave a Miami nieghborhood because the cops would blockade the street they lived on so the cocaine could be unloaded from the boats.

"on the take" lol... Movies much, maggot?

Question, you're all about fair reporting and showing ALL sides but when was the last time you posted a story about a dirty banker, physician or airline pilots?

If you look back a bit youll see pages of stuff on the bankers. Interesting aside, Iceland actually bailed out the people and put a bunch of bankers in jail. Theres a story on here currently about a doctor who is a crook, not so much on airline pilots, but point taken. As a stonemason I did take time to see that one guy who built a fireplace that was exiting smoke and sparks into a ladies attic, lost his liscense...and another was put in jail for fraud because I reported him. So even masons are dirty...unknot your panties.

Re: Nice work officer Briggs

Believe me I would bet my gun collection and Dodge Challenger you'll be hard pressed to find a cop on the take in NYC. The dept has so many fail safes to prevent it you would have to be insane to take the chance. We have Pct. integrity control officers, IAB, and Inspections. They go so far as having setup whole apartments to try and trap cops stealing money or drugs. I have been stopped and lost pay for not wearing a seat belt. Im sure as hell not going to steal. They have Sgts. to up to cops and give them money, drugs and other items and check to make sure it was vouchered in according to department policy. Being constantly tested keeps cops honest and Id bet the NYPD is one of the least corrupt dept in the whole country. Sure guys do the wrong thing at times but its very rare. In the time Ive worked any all the hundreds of cops Ive known I don't know anyone who has done anything that borders corruption. We are so afraid of getting jammed up we are pretty restained.

From legendary broadcaster, the late Paul Harvey, whose father was a police officer.

Worth watching... and contemplating.
