Damn, I hope so. Then I can pick up a good deal on another one so mine doesn't feel lonely anymore! I have only had one NF, and it was a great scope. But honestly, I didn't know what a really good scope was until I got my USO. USO Customer service ROCKS!!! Sent it back to be realigned and add illumination... back to me in just over 2 weeks. Great glass, great controls, and OUTSTANDING customer service.... what more could you ask for?

Re: nightforce or uso?

If you can afford a USO then get one. Otherwise get a Nightforce and say bad things about USO so you can feel better.

Or if your a yuppy asshole and buy things just because they are more expensive and it makes you feel like you have a better trophy to show off to your friends, then get a USO

Now this thread is cooking!!! That's it, I'm gonna go run someone over in my red Porsche!!!!

Re: nightforce or uso?

lol... On a serious note, get your hands on both scopes and pick the one you like the best... we are all different and our opinions mean jack because we are not made the same... that being said, i am sure you will be happy with whichever scope you chose

Wait...how does that work if you get comparable scopes? They cost about the same.

Re: nightforce or uso?

Hi Rob01,

It will be appreciated if you can elaborate more about why you like the NF over USO. I saw your team website, and every scope on there is S&B and USO, and in the gear review page, there is no NF being listed. I have no bad intentions, just been reading your preferences on Hide so many times, but have not read any details of why such preference.

The more details from professional shooters like you and others here will help us new shooters out more.

Thank you,

Dyl..

Target, we actually just started using the Nightforce F1 in the begining of the year after handling them and speaking to Nightforce reps at SHOT. I used the S&B over the past year until switching over because the S&B tracked perfectly, like the Nightforce, and had great glass. I really don't feel like I downgraded going to the Nightforce F1. The scope has a great reticle in the MLR, is mil/mil, has a side parallax adjustment, has an illuminated reticle and is FFP. The glass is also excellent.

If I had to buy or recommend a scope/scopes to anyone it would be a Nightforce F1, Premier Heritage or an S&B. Have used all three and found them not to be lacking in glass, tracking or features.

Re: nightforce or uso?

Thank you Sir.,

Much appreciated!! I got the SFP model since I just started with LR, and it will be times to come before I can really use and be benefit from FFP.

Dyl..

Re: nightforce or uso?

Nothing wrong with the SFP models either. You got a good scope.

Re: nightforce or uso?

Allright folks after waying all my options and getting to check out a uso today(thanks randy)i have decided on a NF.nxs f1 3.5-10x50 zero stop ffp mil-dot rectile 1/10 mil adj.also included is NF ultralite med rings.............2290$ This scope has everything i am looking for and i am sure will give me many years of enjoyable shooting.
After looking at the uso i like the adj clicks a little better on every nf i have ever checked out.(hell of thing to make up your mind on,clicks)Dont get me wrong the uso was sweet.A super nice scope. But for me i like the nf a little better.....
Thanks everyone for your informative input..And again i wasnt trying to ruffle any feathers.I was just looking for input from people that have and are using these two brands of scopes.
In the end though i had to make up my own mind.I wasnt trying to get someone to make up my mind for me.I work on a towboat and am gone 28 days at a time and home for 14 days.My home time gets broke down into maybe 4 or 5 days of shooting. So with my choice now i will be able to make the most of it..........Again fellas thanks for the input.

Re: nightforce or uso?

The F1 is a good choice. I'd love to try one out one day. Post pics when you get it set up for us jealous types!

Maybe you missed the fact that several of us have had them and have been left wanting. I had over 10K invested in them.... that was enough for me.

Show me a $3000+ Nightforce....... I bet it will track, hold, and focus. Same as the 1500, 1800, and 2200 ones.

Re: nightforce or uso?

ive never owned a nightforce and have 1 uso. but i will say this. the options uso has and the optical clarity i saw this weekend under some pretty serious mirage ill take my sn3 anyday

Re: nightforce or uso?

Here you go 467. What you will be getting. It will do everything you need a scope to do.

How about you try both, in field conditions, and report back. I have, more than once, and will pick a NXS every damn time.

Re: nightforce or uso?

Thanks rob01 thats the one.Are those nf rings that midway offer with the f1.I just ordered the scope about 10 minutes ago it is suppose to be in stock.

Re: nightforce or uso?

Those are the Nightforce Ultralites that come with the F1.

I'm just a poser......

How do we know that's your gun, it doesn't match your signature.

Re: nightforce or uso?

ask jl 1911 and ritten and shaggy back. thats my gun. i just had the barrel changed. i still have the old barrel. if it would make you feel better i could take a picture of it and post it next to the new one.

Re: nightforce or uso?

OOOOOH I want to PLAY! I will take either a USO or Nightforce and I am willing to empty my pockets for it. That means 48 cents (one quarter two dimes and three pennies one is very shinny) two rocks they are for throwing at hippies a half eaten gummy bear, a valve stem cap also the stem for a lincoln town car (that guy should not have cut me off) one pen made by skill-craft oh and a naked picture of your mother.

PM me if you want to deal

Wait hold on, is this whole thing some sort of joke?

You came on here just a day ago saying you weren't sure of which scope is better and you wanted honest opinions based on your own ignorance of the subject, you looked through a USO and ordered a NXS that you have not received yet.....

And now you are wholeheartedly agreeing with the above posters controversial comment AGAINST uso based on what experience? What you heard on the internet?

OK riddle me this... what is your issue with USO?
For a guy who shoots as well and as often as you do why wouldn't you go with a "custom" scope?

I've done my fair share of shooting and one huge advantage of USO is a left side windage, Custom BDC if you choose and numerous other options.

S&B to NF.... not stepping down? errr.... ok?????

Just trying to get a better feel for your optic requirements from the perspective of a guy who shoots and competes as you do.

So all USO scopes cost $3000+?
I owned 3 NF scopes and 2 out of 3 failed and had issues. As I recall they both had tracking problems. I got them repaired and then traded all of them for other things(I was happy with my Zeiss at the time). The glass was great and the build was excellent. But just because I had issues, doesn't mean I'm going to go and bad mouth them. Even with the problems that I personally had with the scopes, I would still recommend them. I was able to have the 3rd that had no problems.

For what it's worth, when I say comparable scopes, I'm talking about the NF F1 and the SN3 3.2-17. Unless you know of other NF FFP scopes.

Re: nightforce or uso?

Weda, thank you for the compliment but I am not going to speak of my issues in public forums. Plain ans simple. I like John alot and he has been a friend over the years. My experiences and opinions are mine to share with who I want and where I want.

Options? Well I hold wind so having the windage knob anywhere but right side doesn't matter to me and has never been a problem. BDCs are useless unless in one set condition. Never used one as I have different range cards for different places. The BDC that works at Rifles Only at basically sea level and 90 degrees will not work shooting up at Reade Range at 50 degrees and 1600 feet ASL. Other options as what? Reticles? As long as I have a reticle with 1/2 mil marks I am happy. The MLR or Gen II work just fine. Different knobs? No need for them as the zero stops in the dual turn S&B or NF work great. Why do I need something else? Because the NF knob only has 5 mils per turn? Not a problem as my .308 gets to 1000 in 10 mils so I am never more than on the second revolution and if I get lost it's a short trip to the zero stop and then back up. What other options are needed?

As for the going to the NF from the S&B not stepping down, as I have said in other posts the S&B does edge out the F1 in the glass but other features work as well. Both track perfectly and have the same features including mil/mil, illuminated 1/2 mil spaced reticles, side parallax etc. Glass would be the only difference but when at those levels the difference isn't enough to worry about. Have you ever used an F1 yet?
