I am in the market for a variable power handgun scope to put on a Browning Buckmark Varmint. I found this one from Nikon with a BDC reticle but cannot find any info from Nikon on what it is calibrated for. SWFA website shows 200 and 300 yds. with a 100 yd. zero. Sounds a little extreme for a handgun scope. Does anyone have this particulat scope and is able to give me any feedback on it ? Any input is appreciated..thanks

Re: Nikon 2.5 x 8 Encore EER scope w/ BDC reticle

I have a Burris 2-7x32 handgun scope with ballistic plex reticle
it came with photo of the reticle and each photo was for a different caliber
exemple: for the 30-06 you could shoot to 500 yards using the different hash marks
44 magnum you could shoot to 250 yards this being with the same reticle but the bullet being slower these same hash mark has the 30-06 gave different yardage impact
I would suggest to contact Nikon maybe they could send you the ballistic chart of their BDC
in your question you must of been looking at a caliber similar to the 30-06
so it will be the same reticle but different point of impact for your caliber...
in other words put your Nikon scope on a Thomson center pistol chambered for the 30-06 and then on the same pistol chambered for a 44 magum and the hash mark will have different point on impact both being sighted in a 50 yards
hope this help's you....

Re: Nikon 2.5 x 8 Encore EER scope w/ BDC reticle

Thanks Canuck, that's sort of what I thought also but the only pic they show is the one which is more than likely for a CF round. There are only two aiming points beside the center crosshair. Since this will be going on a RF .22 handgun I am hoping they could be used from a 50 yd. zero and work for reasonable RF ranges from there.

yes it will work fo 22 LR
you just have to see what each hash mark your scope reticle covers at 50 yards
than go on JBM and punch in your ballistic for the 22 LR you are shooting
then just see what bullet drop coincide with your different hash mark
I am certain you know this will work a 8x if you use 5x it will be different since its a second plane focal
are you certain there are only 2 hash mark
here is a pic of the BDC reticle and it has more than 2

I stand corrected made a search and you are correct it has only 2 hash mark mmmmm
Get a burris with ballistic plex.....
