Looking to have my math double checked, and a question about max loads.

I am looking at H335 under a 75gr AMAX for my 1:9 Savage .223, to see if it likes heavy bullets. Will also try the same charges with a 75gr BTHP (both Hornady).

My manuals list 25.1 as the max load. Taking 10% of that, my starting load is 22.6.

So using the OCW method on the guy's site, I get three sighters -- one at 22.6, one at 23.0, and one at 23.5.

Going up 2%, I get my first three at 24.0. Then 1% increments from there give me three each at 24.2, 24.4, 24.6, 24.8, and 25.0. Going "one increment past your max load" gives me three final rounds at 25.25 grains. Not sure if I should to go 25.2 or 25.3, as this is already above the manual's stated max.

I will of course be checking for pressure signs throughout the process, but have never loaded rounds near/above max before.

Comments or suggestions?

One final question... I can't find load data (in manuals) for a 70gr VLD. Can I use 69gr load data safely? Same goes for the 68gr Hornady BTHP, can't find loads in my manuals (I have newer manuals on order). Can I use 69gr data for my 68gr bullets?

Thanks.
