It is normal and impossible to avoid different zeros for different barrels and you just need to record them on your stock and in your ballistic app. Only rarely have I had two barrels with the same zero (my 50 BMG and and 375CT are very close). The bigger issue is repeatability of zero and point of impact when reinstalling the same barrel over and over.
What have you seen for repeatability of return to zero with the same barrel?

Over the years I have seen a pattern with the amplitude of offsets depending on the scale of the cartridge. Most of my short action barrels (6.5x47L, .308WIN, 6mm Creed) are +/- 0.5 of zero, while all of my magnums (.300NM, 338LM and wildcats are +/- 1.5 of zero. This is true of my old Gen 1 as well as the new M2. But thankfully all of these offsets are consistent and repeatable.
Thanks for your reply and info!
I have thought about charting the barrel POI shifts in the past, never got around to it. Now that I have settled on three cartridges and have worked up loads for two of them I figured it's time.

Posted this in the S&B 6-36 thread...but will post here also....
Well fitted the newly repaired 6-36 to the HTI 50 Bmg. Quick sight on...as per usual the HTI 50 produced a 3 shot ragged hole.

Then out to 2500 yds..
Gorgeous day to day......Both Desert Tech HTI,s ,each topped with the Schmidt 6-36,s performed superbly..

Only limitation in the equation was "us"...
We had some hits AND misses..

The sheer clarity of these optics is very very impressive....turning out to be one of the best optics I have ever owned...

Nice rigs. Still patiently waiting for my SB 636….

I noticed some folks put a arca plate here in front of the trigger guard. I was hoping someone could let me know what type of screw is needed for that threaded slot to be used. A lot of arca plates seems to come with 1/4"-20 screw, what that work here? I would like to use this position for tripod shooting.

I’m hoping they offer those with r-lock eventually.

Hey that’s my picture! But yeah I did replace that plate with a full length Arca rail. Fixing an arca plate to the rifle via a single screw is just not ideal

Thanks for the feedback. I thought about that as well, figured the field optics research 50mm arca plate was pretty cheap so I'll give it a try. I've been enjoying the arca rail that came with the M2 handguard. I was eyeing that spot in front of the trigger guard to get a bit better balance when using a tripod. Thanks again tho!

I did this when I used a Manfrotto QD plate and ball head. I made an aluminum V block with six screws drilled and tapped thru the plastic into the aluminum chassis, three on each side of the vee. You can do this to mount an ARCA rail too, it is very solid. I now use the RRS rail forearm.

That's cool and all, but are we going to talk about the exoskeleton on your optic?

Sure, if you like.
I built that to protect the turrets. A lot of people thought it was overkill, but I've always done things that way.
Since then I changed optics and went to a Sphur mount. Also added some other features.

Update for those that have an ES tactical barrel on order. I placed my order in January and received my barrel today. ES makes a good looking barrel, and if it shoots as good as it looks I will be happy.

They shoot lights out every one I’ve had. I’m about to take him a 375 blank and reamer soon.

In my opinion, the M2 should have been a little more like this with a full length rail that reflexes back over the stock panel to the trigger guard.

This is an ARCA rail that we have been making for the SRS. I’ve seen some links to our website above with it.

The chassis pictured here is a newer A2 with a full length M2 top rail. We will be offering chassis in this configuration at our shop.

I’m still waiting on one from a year and a half ago. 👎🏼

I've been told by more than a few customers that they would like to see an M2 Covert. Who here has interest in an M2 Covert or the ability to have a Covert with a full length top rail with elevation built into it like the M2?

Bringing another question the the SRS crowd today. My SRS M2 was new when I bought it 2 months back. Today I gave it the typical light cleaning and noticed some potentially unusual wear near the chamber.

The rifle is giving me the typical 0.5-.75moa groups that I've seen since day 1, frankly I'm not good of a shooter. I'm about 140 rounds (308win) into it and a healthy amount of dry fire practice at home. I figured to check in with ya'll to see if this is something I should be alarmed or pay attention to. Thanks again in advance.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about that little bit of wear. It’s not going to have any effect on the barrel lockup or accuracy.

I don’t personally see the draw to it as far as spending money in the aftermarket to achieve it. I wouldn’t. There is no room for inline NV or thermals with the covert length hand guard. That being said, should all the DT models have a continuous canted rail and be arca compatible from the factory. You betcha.

Definitely a tight fit for clip ons

Well you proved me wrong. With the correct scope, a continous rail would be a bit more beneficial.
It definitely would be. This was setup for a hog hunt. Otherwise, you’d need a top pic rail on the handguard if you used a more “standard” scope. But with a quality clip on with a Risley prism, you maybe could still make it work adding a small rail section on the handguard

I would think with a short optic like an S&B Ultra Short, Kahles K318, or ZCO 4-20, you should have enough room to clip a NV or Thermal on. I don't personally own any clip on thermal or NV devices.
