Once again...Savage listens!

Re: Once again...Savage listens!

HA.. in 300 AAC BLACKOUT no doubt!!!
Selling one of my 308 Salvages and buying this would be so much easier than swapping bbls!!! Of course I have to thread it, or maybe they will get smart(ER) and offer it w/ AAC/YHM QD mounts or threads of your choice.

Re: Once again...Savage listens!

What is the purpose of the AAC Blackout in a bolt gun??

And what's the diff between this rifle and the other short barrel .308's like the FCP? It doesn't even list the barrel length in the specs?

the point is so you can shoot 300blk out of a bolt gun, i suppose? The round is for suppressed performance.....so what's better suppressed...a bolt or semi? A bolt...win.

and the barrel is 20" like all other 10pc's.....

.308 works great suppressed too right? I don't get it. The whole point of 300 BLK in an AR-15 is that it uses the same case and consequently the bolt and mags are interchangeable with 5.56. The bolt gun version is just bandwagoning; it doesn't seem to make sense on its own merits.

Sense? C'mon we are American Shooters. We don't make sense . . . .

If we did, we would all shoot 30-06s

if it was bandwagoning....and the 308 was better....why do SO many people run the 300 whisperer and variants, and have for years?

and if we're comparing apples to fords.....what's the point of a 308? it's just a bandwagon to shoot it over the MUCH MUCH better 6mm and 6.5mm rounds....

Re: Once again...Savage listens!

they get "hollywood quiet" out of a bolt rilfe... and even though you CAN load a 308 subsonic, the 300blk has factory ammo available, AND it's more efficient/easiler to load your own than it is to load 308 subs...

also the ARs won't cycle, subsonic, w/ any bullet lighter than about 200gr...generally speaking... but the bolt can eat any sub you put in it.

i think it's been covered....a lot

i'm just glad to see people getting over their 308 boner...

Re: Once again...Savage listens!

Not sure Savage has done anything special here except the chambering. Still uses the same accustock with a coat of paint that you will want to throw out but you can't because Savage still uses that bullshit bottom bolt release so there's no drop-in aftermarket options available and they still use that obnoxious smooth barrel nut. Another $40 tool and twice as difficult to get off. They also haven't made any changes or updates to the accutrigger which I thought was pretty good until I felt some Jewells, Shilens, Gieselle, etc.

Savage continues to change their designs as soon as the aftermarket catches up and I'm growing tired of it. Remingtons have remained unchanged since...well I'm not sure because it's been longer than I've been alive. This is all coming from a Savage owner btw.

Re: Once again...Savage listens!

the .300 blackout is amazing in an AR with great terminal ballistics using supersonic ammo and the subsonic ammo in a bolt gun is super quiet, some AR variants in 300 blackout with subsonic loads have reliability issues between manufacturers. The 300 Whisper has been utilized for a LONG time with great results. Subsonic loads in a .308 require a lot of attention and excess case volume is also an issue. The 300 delivers 16% more performance than a 7.62x39 and is a superstar so far. We will see how this round fairs as it's popularity is through the roof.
