Rifle Scopes One scope 6.5CM and .22 Trainer Question

Forgive me I know this topic has been covered multiple times. I have a more specific inquiry.

My current setup is a defiance action (20MOA rail) with a 26" bartlein 7.5 twist.

Just recieved a Steiner T5xi 5-25 today. No rings yet pending responses to this post.

I am planning on ordering a ruger precision rimfire. The goal is to be able to switch the steiner between rifles since the ruger will be my training rifle.

Could anyone offer some insight on whether I will be able to switch the scope without changing the zero and just noting the offset?

Not sure what rings or scope mount would be best.

I used to swap my SWFA HD between a Tikka Varmint 223 and my Tikka CTR 6.5 CM. Noted the offset and reset zero and shot to confirm. Sometimes it was dead on, and sometimes it was off a hair, but it was never off more than .2 mils and was not off more than .1 mils most of the time.

I do the same with my S&B 5-25 using an ADM mount. Some will bring up issues using vertical split rings but I've never had an issue and like Patriot said...its maybe .1mil off between take off and put on.

You can also put that offset into your ballistic calculator so that the numbers it spits out for the 22 is exactly what you need to dial (vice doing mental math)

Cheek weld might be an issue on a bolt action.

I am waiting on a Bobro compact 30mm dual lever scope mount. The centerline height is 0.947" so very similar to low or medium rings depending on brand.

Bobro said 34mm is coming eventually.

I think QD mount height is one of the reasons why it's rarely done on bolt actions. If the Bobro works out nicely, I expect more people to start doing it.

Also looking at spuhr because they claim if you tighten the 4 screws in the labled order its supposed to be repeatable.

The ring height for your ruger will be pretty much AR Height is that compatible with your bolt action? really depends what stock you are running.

You don't need QD to switch between rifles or to get close to zero, almost any ring set will be able to get you close to zero if you torque properly, even plain rings can be removed and re-attached fairly quickly with a good torque wrench so unless you feel you absolutely have to have a QD mount don't feel that you have to go that route. I think the offset on the manners would be unbearable for me. May not be for you

Mount scope to 6.5 with a one piece mount. Then onto mod zero on rimfire. That way you theoretically shouldn't have to rezero when moving optics.

Interesting idea, you better have one heck of a cheek riser though as that unit looks really high off the pic rail

Id go with a Spuhr mount.
