Plan B ....Hope it works better than plan A

Plan A was to reload for my H&k 01 in .308. Most that replied suggested forgetting that because of the great amount of damage done to most brass.

So now, I dread finding out about availability, price, and delivery time for bulk ammo. I definitely want to avoid anything corrosive or that patterns like a shotgun. Suggestions appreciated.

I realize I will likely be on a waiting list like most everybody else.
thanks in advance for your help.

+1 on the above suggestions re: surplus brass (on the cheap) or pick-up range brass (on the...FREE). ;) If it gets beat up/destroyed after a couple uses...discard it and move on without taking a hit in the wallet.

Other things that will help (not eliminated by any means) the damage to your brass are a port buffer (as seen here for example: HK91 Port Buffer and Carry Handle for HK 91 G3 PTR91 HK93 HK33 and CETME, RTG Gun Parts ) and/or a brass catcher (there are numerous options from really nice ABS/hard-sided units to the cheaper mesh-type bags which all serve the purpose of keeping your brass from being thrown a blue country mile away and incurring additional, unnecessary damage). As for the damage to the brass from the chamber flutes...you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. There is nothing that can prevent the damage (most of which is purely cosmetic in nature from the carbon fouling unless you are running some HOT loads), but full-length sizing with proper dies will still get you back in the game with brass, allowing you to reload cases fired through the rifle without a hiccup.
