I just went to ship these 23 empty Black Hills ammo boxes to a guy here on the site, crossed out all the UPC's, crossed out the BLACK HILLS AMMUNITION.

But no, apparantly, according to the clerk with the long hair and dangling earrings these boxes can explode in mid air because of residual gunpowder from the ammunition.

I said "WHAT???" the ammunition was in brass with a bullet sealing it, I shot those, they are GONE this is just styrenefoam and cardboard - nothing else.

But he said the FBI would call me if I shipped it...so we all better be careful not to ship empty ammo boxes.

WTF? That makes about as much sense as a

So does that mean spent brass has residual gunpowder in it as well and can explode.... People ship that flatrate by the thousands....

*soapbox on*
Called she was lazy and didn't want to do her job. Heaven forbid someone would have to do what they are paid to do these days. I mean be lucky to have a job at this time in our country...
*soapbox off*

Re: PO says empty ammo boxes can explode

One more note, this is the Sheridan Park Post office in Bremerton, WA 98311

Just in case anyone is thinkign of using them - DON'T - go down to the Tracyton post office, despite being grumpy the guy there is fast and efficient.

Or Keyport's small post office, good service there - I'll end up mailing it from there tomorrow LOL

Re: PO says empty ammo boxes can explode

Just use Online postage and give it to your letter carrier..I use Stamps.com and give everything to the mailman..I only go to the PO for emergencies or stamps.

I had to educate the local postmaster about shipping guns a couple of years ago.. they had no clue and had to get out the reg books. I was right and they learned a little about their job that day lol.

Re: PO says empty ammo boxes can explode

hell i just prepackage everything and use the don't tell policy. to bad you have to make an extra trip for something soo silly.

LOL Well you probably know who I'm talking about - the guy is generally a nice guy and fast and friendly but I sure hit a nerve with him.

Still gotta go by tomomrrow and get em in the mail..

Re: PO says empty ammo boxes can explode

USPS Online Shipping rocks! You simply log in, set the addresses, pay and print. Box your trash up(well you need to to get the weight for the label) and send it. I also use the 'pick up' for my front stoop. No questions asked for CONUS, and it alwasy gets there(I get online e-mail tracking).
If you send stuff anywehre CONUS use the online USPS it is so much easier and so convienent it is worth the cost of a postal scale
