When NY and CA retroactively changed the statute of limitations for crimes.... how was that legal?
Let's say a rape case has a 5 year statute of limitations. A rape done in 1970 can't be prosecuted.
Then the court says - ok - we will allow it.
It's similar to changing the law saying drug possession is not a capital crime where you can get the death sentence and retroactively changing the sentence of everyone ever convicted including those already released.
