Claiming friendly fire, though embarrassing, is way less politically lethal than “Fast and Furious II - The Military Edition”.

The Russians called Potato's bluff, punched the bully in the nose, and he ran away crying. I know for a fact NATO air assets were targeted in that area before and it was only Providence that averted a shoot down over a year ago. I'm not sure how much of that incident is common knowledge, so I'll stay scant with details, but spending half my adult life in the airborne Recce community, I hear some things and can read between certain lines in the press releases (cause they start to look strikingly similar to releases about me and my buds a few years back).

My father passed a few years ago at 95 from dementia. What amazed me were the "younger" people in his memory care facility at the end - younger as much less than 60. It is not just age but certainly most are 70+.

Still makes me wonder as these fighters have very advanced and robust Countermeasures. I’m thinking some next gen EW helped paved the way to make the delivery method, whatever it was, successful in downing this fighter. Something fucky is def going on, and it ain’t good.

My wife’s grandmother is in this situation in her late 80’s. Other “inmates/patients” can be as young as 30’s, especially with a history of heavy drug use.

Just this week a plane spotter in Britain was posting shots of F/A-18 returning from that area sporting nose art and kill marks.

Nose art has generally been prohibited unless it is unit insignia rather than personal to the plane aircrew.

The kill marks included drones and other weapons systems.

Perhaps someone is walking around with an F/A-18 silhouette on his turban today.
