This is an oldie but still a good one, awaiting delivery of my first "real" precision rifle. Will post thoughts and pics when it arrives. For now, this Savage 10 FCP in .308 with a 20" barrel, Viper PST Gen II 3-15 a Harris bipod and a sock full of airsoft pellets still gets me on target at 1000 and around 1/2 MOA @ 100.

Cool! Nice looking rifle. You'll have to let us know how it shoots. How much does it weigh?

For those using the SWFA 10 X 42 HD scope I thought I'd share this;

Along with the Vortex covers, Holland bubble level and zero-stop shim kit, I'm using a Switchview SV172-176 cat tail on the parallax adjustment ring. The ring is very stiff to turn and is difficult to get a grip on. The cat tail made a HUGE difference!

For those not familiar with this scope, though it's fixed power and has no reticle illumination, the build and optical quality are on par with variable power scopes costing two to three times more. Every time I consider dropping serious coin on a higher-end variable, I come to the same conclusion - I'm better off spending the money on something else. For a .308 out to 1,000 yards, it's all you may need.

I have a GAP Thunder Ranch. What manf of magazine is that? Can I get one similar for my TR? (sorry looks like I quoted a different post, still have the same question)

I have Accurate-Mag's now and would like a magazine with a bottom plate that doesn't slide out.

Thanks.

This is my first precision rifle build, but I am quickly becoming addicted. I went with the HCR because it was sub moa, sub 1k, and already in a chassis, vs a stock. Plus I really like the way it looks. I just wish more people then Timney made aftermarket triggers.

I went with the Howa 1500 HCR
24" Barrel
Mechforce Enforcer Brake
Accurate Mags
Stock Trigger, with lighter spring and adjusted as low as it can do. I don't know its pull weight yet.
Leupold MK5HD 5-25x56
Talley 20MOA Base
Seekins Precisions Rings
Atlas Bipod
XLR industries Folding Adapter
Parker Mountain Bolt Knob

It's not a glamor shot, but there's my KRG SOTIC (6.5 CM) at the range. The Spuhr mount is a little higher than necessary, but the W-3 has enough adjustment to mitigate that effectively. I added an APA brake.

Very interesting. Also, I completely agree. I use an SWFA SS 20x42 on my RPR .308 that I shoot anywhere out to 1,000. Outstanding quality for the price.

Just your basic LTR in .308. Leupold 6.5 - 20 x 50. Timney trigger. Hangs out in the .50 to .75 MOA with 155 gr AMAX bullets. Can’t seem to get it to do much with anything heavier. But it works. Some nice rigs to look at here.

Really sick build. I have an HCR myself and love it. Planning on adding a sling?

I like the look of this, what is the weight and length of the barrel?

24” barrel. As it sat then 10lb 4.4 ounces, suppressor is 20.6 ounces including brake and thread cap is .8 so add 19.8 oz for the can.
