maybe some lower scope rings though... but its still awesome, looks very coordinated and professional.

That Kampfield is wicked looking. Love the two tone metal. Hope it shoots as good as it looks.

i wasnt sure what rings to get when i started mapping this all out. with everyones bases being different heights, the larger 58mm bell and barrel thickness at the breach, i will adjust the rings in the near future to bring it down.

thanks for all the comments, i explained what i was looking for (roughly) and let Karl work his magic and i am just benefitting from this.

Re: precision rifles... show em

At least you've got a good reason not too, but you can be shopping for the right color Krylon for when you get the 5-25

Re: precision rifles... show em

I just purchased this a month ago off gunbroker.com and got a pretty good deal. It came with the tripod, Springfield 4X14X56 3rd generation scope. So far I've gotten it down to .61 MOA at 200 yards but this group is .69 center to center at 100 yards. I'm still playing with loads and was quite surprised when I got a better group with old belt fed M-60 brass rather then brand new Nosler brass. I'm using Hornady 168 gr A-Max, 42.9 gr Varget and CCI 200 primers with both types of brass.

Here are a few of mine...not as fancy as most of the rifles here....but they shoot good.
Remington 700SS 5R in HS stock, Jewell trigger, Tubb Speedlock firing pin and spring,Leupold base and rings, and Leupold MK 4 8.5x25 LRT scope.
Tikka T3 Tactical in .308 with Leupold Mk 4 rings and 3.5x10 MK 4 LRT scope.

Here is a five shot .392" group from the Tikka T3 Tactical @ 100yrds. using factory 168gr. BTHP Hornady Match ammo.

My beautiful wife with the Volquartsen Evolution in .223. Leupold MK 4 rings and MK 4 3.5x10 LRT scope.

I feel stupid asking questions about your rifles after seeing pics of your girl, but here goes...

I am curious about the VQ Evolution rifle, never read a review of how it shoots and what ammo it likes.

Can you tell me more.

LOL...no problem. The Evo is a short piston, gas operated rifle. All SS barrel and receiver. Very nice trigger at about 3 - 3 1/2lbs. Uses standard AR mags and I have never had any issues with feeding in the limited shooting I have done with it (225rds through it).
It has a screw on muzzle brake and being gas operated wne the brake ...it feels like a .22 when you shoot it.
It has a 1:9 twist and it really likes Federal GM Match .69gr and Black Hills 50gr Vmax ammo.
On a good day I can shoot sub 1/2 MOA with it. The factory target has a 3 shot one hole group but I can't make it do that.
I actually have it for sale and listed on Gun Broker...I have a chance to get a new AI so I am trying to get some money together.

Take care,Stan

Re: precision rifles... show em

That group looks smaller than half inch.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Nice group s.i.t., How about specs (stock,glass,etc.).

Someone will be along shortly to ask you to repeat that group 5 times, after varifiying range, with a witness, possibly on video.

Nice Shooting, welcome.

Thats great and all..... Most of the rifles can do that all day, but can you do it more then once. Lets see how you do at extended ranges.

Re: precision rifles... show em

I dont care about witness verification. Its not about how your best group is ever. I can go post 100yd pics of my LSR 7wsm from this weekend of 1/3 inch. But I dont care. Its how i do all the time, and at extended ranges. 100yrds comeon.

Re: precision rifles... show em

I am not going to disagree with you Cypriss, I would like to see more. I believe in 5 shots 5 times, just like in Benchrest small groups are cool but aggregates win matches.

My point above was just to point out it wouldn't be long before someone called him on it. True to form a Hide member comes thru.

That's why I like it here...consistancy.

haha, so we're past 3 shot groups, now five shot groups... I'm guessing a 10 shot group is out, will the 'Hide accept a 50 shot group?

More seriously, I'm not going to post an aggregate picture of paper w/ multiple single hole groups in them just to satisfy those perusing these forums. I know there is that 'hide group-shoot .pdf that we can all print out and shoot -that is all peachy and I'll probably do it next time I go out- but honestly guys, what does it matter?

My point is not that you should accept a 3 shot group or even a 5 shot group (because I don't care), but why the hell even bother? I don't know why I'm bothering posting this either... for all we know, that group pictured was shot at 25 yards. Hell, he may not have access to anything but a 100 yard range. Why disallow him from posting pictures of his groups from his day of shooting? Shoot what works for you, and let him shoot what works for him. Its not like lives are depending upon this BS anyways.
Ultimately, its all just a load of shit... haha.

Oh, btw... I shoot 1, 3, 6, and 9 shot groups... I'm anti-conformist.

Lighten up, this thread is in good fun for people to show off their weapons, be it a $400 budget plinker, or a $7000 full custom...

Ok last night I was going for 5 shot groups. I had 3 different loads I was trying out and in 2 cases I shot a 1 hole 4 shot group and then the fifth was a flyer. What gives with that? Is it like bragging about your pick up and then it breaks down 10 miles later. ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrr

Re: precision rifles... show em

Thats called...."trying to hard"...you are mind screwing yourself...

At least that happens to me sometimes. Best thing is to take a break and then come back a min. or two later and do it "right".

I find once I just get into the groove and shut out all the "what if's"...I shoot a whole lot better.

Just mt 2 cent worth...take it for what it is.

Take care,Stan

Re: precision rifles... show em

Not exactly at tactical, or precision rifle, but for now it will have to do. This Remmy710 started life as a hunting rifle and still serves well. I will be adding something alittle more accurate to the family hopefully sooner than later.

Mods include
float and bed
adj trigger to 3 lbs.
redneck raised cheek weld
stoney point target turrets, mod to fit this scope
new paint
bi-pod
and yes at least on this rifle it really does work. the limbsaver deresonator (sp?)

today she shot pretty well at about 1.25, and one group that fell inside and inch. thats about all I can ever hope for with this rig.

Just goes to show you don't have to spend all your coin to get started, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Nice set up Spanners. Plan to do the same thing for my Remmy 700 SPS in 243 when it gets here. Of course the thing is to wait for the AICS.
Don't forget to post some range reports.
