precision rifles... show em

Re: precision rifles... show em

Mmmmm...juicy. I want you guys to send me some pics of your guns - the nastier the better. I need this for a gun-specific political campaign. I just refiled my campaign for a write-in for the 4th Federal Rep. Dist. of Illinois and I will be doing one man guerilla warafre in this partly Puerto Rican and partly Yuppie area - with some old Ukies and Polacks still hidden in the fringes of the deistrict. I also filed (will have to withdraw from one) as 4th state representative dist. candidate.

With the Fed campaign I have guaranteed access to the airwaves and will run about ten sixty second spots. I did this in 2004 so I know the ropes. I use odd times when the rates are lower and WLS has a longer reach from Chicago. This is not just the state but this time I will run earlier ads.

The Cook County ballot has an advisory question on banning "assault style weapons" which means anything that LOOKS like that, as well as anything over .50 caliber or having other "nasty" features. Manufacture, possession and all else would be forbidden.

I want to distribute some real nasty-lookin' gun pics on my literature the gist of which is to ask some intelligent questions, to call the Chicago Pornocrat party a bunch of paranoid mamas boys, to tell my local Ricans they are being led by a bunch of bought and paid for whores, etc, and that all Puerto Rican males will wind up wearing women's slacks in ten years if the effeminization of the culture doesn't stop. It will be a local God, Guns, and Testosterone thing.

I would like full specs on the guns, loads, and target capabilities. That I can print up on harder glossy stock and pass out at schools (Oh Horrors!). I figure there isw a certain amount of mechanical fasination which will penetrate the male mind and arose an interest. File size doesn't matter - five megs is fine as a TIFF or JPEG file.

Re: precision rifles... show em

SPDGG:

The specs are as follows:
Remington M700 receiver, clip slotted, GAP-trued
Timney trigger
Rock 5R 1 in 11 barrel, stainless, .308 Win, GAP-installed
GAP bolt stop
Badger lugged scope rail, 20 MOA
Badger medium rings
Badger bolt knob
Badger recoil lug
Leupold 4.5-14x50 M1 Mark 4 Mil-Dot
AICS 1.5

The metal was also Cerakoted in flat black by GAP. Real happy with their work and it shoots... It took a little time to bed the chassis - had to widen the recoil lug channel in the chassis and shorten the lug. I followed the Terry Cross / USMC method for the bedding location, using Steel Bed. I'm thinking of switching to Stage 1 skins on the AICS - the adj. cheek piece is nice, but I like the simplicity of the fixed style.

I was going to have RD Precision do the work, but wanted the GAP bolt stop. I figured since I had to send it to GAP, why not have them keep it and do all the work. I have plans for another build (there's always another one, right?) that I plan on sending to RD Precision if they'll take it.

razor100:
I like the 416 sights just fine, mainly for their speed, and that the tip of the front sight is always in the center of the circle / front hood. The lack of clickie / easy adjustments (at the rear) is a con, but overlook-able given that they're more the fix-and-forget style, anyway.

Stay safe all,
Clint

Re: precision rifles... show em

"havoc" Thanks for posting info. AWESOME Rifle. Looks SWEET the way it is.

IMHO - I'd keep the AICS 1.5 skins & get the thumb screws a member here sells. Simple/cheap upgrade - That barrel should/can take a lot of rounds before cleaning, IMHO shooting time/options outways cleaning convenience. Again IMHO/just my .02

- R&D Precision does TOP NOTCH work & for sure "HateCA"/Randy will take care of you w/ any project.

"Supersubes" - I'm in So.CA.

Thanks again - Have a great one,

Mike Hull: Belive it or not, that material is called wood and was in fact used by the early greeks, not for gun stocks though.

(If I only could find a decent composite aftermatket stock for it...)

Re: precision rifles... show em

Cherokee: Ok, that could lead to a question of how accurate a semi M2 could be. I'm guessing a custom barrel would be quite expencive.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Hey is that what Carlos Hathcock's custom M2 and sniper scope combo looked like? he set a record of the longest kill with that thing didnt he? Very kool pic

Cherokee..Your MA-Duce is that bought or home built? I am about to finish my 1919a4 and was looking into getting the 50 kit if I can find it.

Now that I look at the picture looks like your over in the box...SO I guess it is Uncle Sams?

Re: precision rifles... show em

M-25DMRClone.jpg

It started life as a rack grade M1A but over time, I rebarreled it with a Douglas medium weight match grade barrel, upgraded the flash suppressor, gas piston, and recoil spring guide rod with NM parts, replaced the stock sights with M2A match sights, and reworked the trigger group to match specification. I mounted a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10X40 M3LR scope in Leupold Mk-4 rings and mounted it on a Brookfield Precision scope mount. The stock was actually a contract over-run for the USMC DMR project and you can still see where the hole for the selector is still in the stock. It's bedded to the action with Devcon as to free-float the barrel and a Tactical Intervention sling and Harris bipod finish things off. No, I have no idea how much I spent on it over time (and that's probably a good thing so when the wife asks me how much I spent on it, I have plausible deniability!

) but it will easily shoot Federal Gold Medal Match ammo into 3/4 MOA any day and on a good day just slightly under 1/2 MOA.

M-40A3Remington700VS.jpg

This is my other main long range rifle. She's a Remington 700VS in .308 Winchester. She's sporting a McMillian A4 stock bedded to the action, a Parker-Hale bipod, another Tactical Intervention sling as well as another Leupold Vari-X 3.5-10X40M1LR scope in Leupold rings and a Leupold 1-piece base. I am thinking though that one of these days I will replace the rings and base with a Badger 20 MOA base and rings though to get a little more range out of it. Right now though she's a decent shooter with more often than not shooting 1/2 MOA groups faily easly.

Re: precision rifles... show em

I'm "old school". This is what I use at our long range tactical matches. And do pretty well most of the time.

All original Swede M41b Mauser WWII sniper rifle in 6.5x55 Mauser, with a 4x Ajack scope with german post reticle. Receiver was built in 1902. Shoots sub moa all the way to 1000 yards with Lapua 139 Scenars or Sierra 142 SMKs @2700 fps.

The scope has enough elevation adjustment to get me to 900 yards. At 1000 I have to hold over about 4'. No windage adjustment so I have to hold off if there's any wind - which I always hope for at 1000 since the post is eight times wider than the B27 silhouette target at 1000 yards. The glass is amazingly clear for having been made 60 years ago.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Pathfinder,

What a sweet rifle, glad to see you take the old girl out so she can do what she was built for.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Yes, the M2 belongs to Uncle Sam. We needed something with more range than our Armalite AR10T's and we could not shoot SLAP through the Barrett so we used the M2 with scope. The M2 firing on single shot was more than accurate enough to engage targets out to 1800 Meters.

Re: precision rifles... show em

I'm posting these for my buddy Roger. To say the least, he has a few nice rifles:

Re: precision rifles... show em

I was pondering that one myself. I will find out specs (and name) of these rifles. Not your average off the shelf rifles. I thought I was on the exotic side owning an AI AW.

Re: precision rifles... show em

Re: precision rifles... show em

I am just bumping this and making sure it don't get lost because I need some ideas to paint my rifle. I will paint it when I get up the nerve.

Buck, What kind of shooting mat/gun case is that?

Re: precision rifles... show em

The top one is an Eagle Drag Bag that I got from Triad and the other is the Eagle Rifle Cover and Pad (tri-fold).

These are 3 of my boomdingers.

The one in the rear is a .308 w/ a 1.10" Mike Rock barrel by GAP.
The middle is my favorite. It is a Terry Cross Ruger(he doesn't do Rugers anymore) and has a Krieger barrel and is pillar bedded in the factory laminated stock.
The front rifle is a 6.5x55 on a MK 10 action. It is in the factory Bell & Carlson stock. It is for long sessions of practice without the pain of recoil and, heck, it is just fun.
