Everybody talks about doing something, and how nice shit would be if things changed but how many of us actually take action? Inaction is always worse than poor action (almost)
I e-mailed my state senator a few weeks ago for kicks to see if there was anyway MN politicians who would consider changing the Suppressor ban.
This was in part due to sparked interest from another forum after other members had a meeting with MN state Sen. Wolf. During this meeting she that lasted over an hour she agreed to support a bill to change the law if she had support from other Senators. Well I contacted Sen. Howe to see if he would support it, expecting a crap response and no support. Seems like he may actually listen to the citizens of MN despite our somewhat anti gun Governor.
Heres the response I received today.
Dear xxxxx,
First I want to deeply and sincerely thank you for your selfless service to our country. I have found your discussion insightful and helpful concerning Statute: 609.66 Dangerous weapons, Subd. 1a. Sound suppressors for firearms. I will be in discussion with Sen. Wolf, and in fact have already contacted her office to receive and update. Sen. Wolf had a meeting or two already with constituents from her district who raised the same questions. She will be researching and discussing the issue with our colleagues and research staff over the interim. I look forward to offering my experiences as I am an avid hunter and have worked in the area of corrections myself.
Praying for your safe return.
Sincerely,
Senator John Howe
I think this shows that the people still have a voice, no matter how small it may seem. If you are a MN resident here e-mail your district senator expressing the logical aspects of Suppressor ownership! If you can call them to set up a meeting they may listen! Sen. Wolf already met with forum members and I'm sure others will to. They may just not understand what is going on due to a apparent lack of interest in the population. Much to the adage "if it ain't broken don't fix it" lets show them that the laws are outdated and biased!
Yes I'm excited. I wan't this to change, a bit naive yes, but one can hope.
find your rep and contact them!! here is a link to MN Sen directories.
