Quick Shot Challenge: What’s the dumbest shooting myth you’ve heard?

It’s illegal to hunt large game with a .22lr
This one is actually true in a number of states. Example Michigan:

Some of the dumbest shooting myths I have heard.

@Lowlight likes Harris bipods.

Army Jerry never said “Buy more ammo”.

Theis is a Ukrainian arms dealer.

6.5 Credmoor is not gay.

This one is true because I heard him say it. FoulMike - “I’ll shoot a hole through him he couldn’t plug with a door knob”.
Looks like this was chosen as the winner!

Congrats.

In Texas, one might get away with hunting deer with .22LR. But on public land, it has to be center no smaller than .243 W. So most 6s would be okay and so would 6.5 ManBun. I hunt with either a .308 W or 7 PRC. A colleague hunted big horn sheep with a .300 WM (better for wind holds at a few hundred yards than a .308.)

You can also use, at least on the land managed by the USFS, 12 ga shotgun slug or shot. And archery. Most counties allow crossbows. The only places they are restricted is Grayson, Collin, Dallas, and Rockwall counties. You have to have a doctor's note explaining why you need a crossbow to hunt. No doubt some stupid fudd thinking.

I know I'm late getting to the party, but I had to share this one.

A friend of a friend who was a vet, claimed he trained recruits back in the late 60's on the 20" barrel M16. He swore that in full auto mode, it would fire so fast that the next round up would fire before the one in front of it left the barrel.

You can't make this stuff up.
