The paint is Krylon covered with a Matte clear sealer. The sealer will keep the krylon from coming off. I also prepped the stock with a primer especially made for plastic surfaces. It should hold up even with heavy hunting, I hope!! Duracoat would be nice but i dont have the equipment to apply it. The barrel has been bead blasted with an aluminum oxide or something like that. Jon beanand did the barrel work and he suggested i keep oil on the barrel to help season it (it will get darker with use) It looks pretty good this way really. I am debating whether to paint the scope, but i havent ever done that. I dont know how well it would hold up?? Thanks for your honest opinion though, I really appreciate that!! Lee

Looks great!

I've been meaning to try that myself.

Can you tell me more about this clear matte sealer? What is it? What brand?

I looked for a matte polyurethane, but all I could find was a satin finish, which is a bit shiny.

Do you think your matte sealer will hold up to cleaning solvents?

Farmers almanack is calling for lots of snow this year. I sure hope so. I love chasing and calling coyotes in the snow. Or how about a full moon night hunt!! Cant have much more fun than that!!
I will have to look at the can tomorrow to give you more detail on the sealer. I work for the city here and the park boys use it on wood signs and things like that. I dont really know if it will hold up to harsh chemicals or not. I always cover my stocks when i am cleaning anyway. As far as shooting it is hammering 87gr v-max with about 30gr of varget. I havent gotten to shoot it a hole lot yet. It turned out very nice. I am Even a bit surprised myself. Apache308, i appreciate the help!! Thanks fellas!! Lee
