I’ll preface this with I have no affiliation with either.
If you know David Chang then you know Momofuko. The noodles sold at Target are 🔥
Also, my buddy, a chef, helped develop these ramen with a Japanese chef through countless hours and trial and error and they are absolutely incredible. It took a lot to get them on a mass production and ability to ship and last a bit frozen. I add a “3 minute egg”.
    Just wanted to share.

It’s about the noodle quality. If you haven’t watched the ramen documentary on Netflix, I believe it will give you a whole appreciation for the history and what goes into it. If the price is too much, go be poor and uneducated somewhere else 😜

Momofuko Soy and Scallion noodles. I doctor them up with some fresh garlic, scallions, mushrooms, wht truffle oil, rice wine, balsamic, pepper and hot sauce I made. It’s really about the quality of the noodles. Excellent! 🍻

Throw in some leftover steak, or chicken....

In a pinch a couple soft boiled eggs.

being a "poor" that survived through school on cheap foods like top ramen and swanson pot pies, i am amused at the new gourmet ramen places and how the man buns* are flocking to pay 20 bucks for noodle soup, lol.
that isn't to say that good fancy ramen isn't worth the price if that is what you want. i don't pay for gourmet mac&cheese either.
my brother's wife can eat all the spicy ramen challenges. not me.

    * just borrowing from the beer thread and how if you don't drink coors, you're a man bun faggot :ROFLMAO:
**lots of ways to make cheap ramen better. adding pork belly isn't a bad idea.

I got through college on pinto beans, cornbread, tortillas and ramen. Left over bean juice became the water for the ramen. It’s a bit different now I add boiled eggs, bacon and whatever animal got shot, but ramen is still in the pantry. MSG rocks!!

Lobster rolls are $25 a piece at a local truck. $60 with tip and I’m full is worth every penny. They’re every bit as good as what I’ve had at Woods Hole and Menemsha.
    🍻

Buddy of mine said in prison they made ramen all the time. Would throw whatever they had in there. Cheese, chips, crackers, whatever they could get from the commissary. Tried it the other day, wasn’t half bad. Except mine was made in a cooking pot and not the one you shit in 😂

I like the hot and spicey ones.
If I have some broth I use it and toss in leftover meat, an egg scallions.

Smoked meat did not work at all, a huge clash.

Shin Ramen is my favorite, the "black" not so much. Lots of ways to fancy it up; slice up some little smokeys, scallions, crack an egg in it when at a boil, put in a slice of cheese.

If you like that, go to the next level with Yukgaejang (육개장).

My parents traveled to Seoul a few times when we were kids. Brought back Guess jean jackets, Nikes, parachute pants, Gucci watches, Members Only jackets, etc. Pretty good knock offs except the watch. I didn’t think it looked bad, but also, no one had a fucking Gucci watch so hard to say 🤣

I have no idea if this is "good" Ramen, but dammit if I haven't been eating this for almost 30 years. It all started when I was in the Army and I've seen no need to change nowView attachment 7781537
That's pretty much the staple of Korean households. Can't go wrong there. Current trend is to crush it up and add about half the amount of water, just enough to soak the noodles and fry it with rice. Its so fucking bomb.

Well shit. Sorry I recommended it without seeing if it is still available. Never seen this happen but apparently the first 6 episodes are “unavailable” for whatever reason.
*Edit Randomly clicked on “Rakuen The Secret of Paradise” and it’s missing the first few episodes too. Weird. Googled it and read some rando reasons but commonly seems to be geographical and licensing issues. 🤷‍♂️
It’s called Prime Japan on Amazon Prime. S1E3 “Ramen” Some of the other ones are good too like “Sake” S1E10.
