So know we have the horsepower to reach out to the 1500 Meter and beyond with precision firearms and ammo. Who makes a Laser rangefinder that is accurate enough to get you there. The Margine of Error for accuarcy gets really small the farther out you go. And with the current crop of Laser range finders available there Error gets larger as you go the distance.

Ive been playing with these things since they started to get available to the average shooter. I started with the 400 Bushnell then found out that was good for about 200 yards. This was back in the mid 90's then I got the 600 yard Yardage pro. then the new Nikon then the Bushnell Yardagepro 1000. then I uped it to the 1200LRF Leica. So Ive had alot of the ones on the market over the last 12 years or so. None of these Ive listed to include the Swarofsky (sp?)will get me what I NEED at 338LM and 50BMG distances. I find the advertised distance is about 20 -40% short in a real world enviroment when you need it most.

Who makes the bad ass of all laser range finders if cost is not an issue and it may be your life on the line.

Saw the Vector by Vectronics, looking for more possabilities besides them.

Thanks in advance for your Non ( I have a Leupold and it works just fine comments)

Shoot good, be safe and have fun

Wow no one has anything???

Its a tough issue I know, $6000 rifle and then you have to spend more money on a good range finder besides the cost to feed that beast of a rifle.

Any good Advice?

It's either the Vector binoculars or the PLRF's. There are other LRF's, but the STORM is Mil only because of the IR laser and the RULR is not yet available.

You might be statisfied with the Newcon BLRF's, I myself am not impressed.

I use the Vector IV's, which have good enough glass to act as a spotter as well. They connect directly to the PDA with Field Firing Solutions and the act of ranging the target computes the solution, you can even get the grid coordinates.

They may not be cheap and easy to get, but they are the best.

Thanks for the input.

Is there a vendor here in the US for the Vector, PLRF's? Ive researched it on line and only come up with the Mother company overseas.

Are the RULR made by Vectronix also?

Looks like these are my only options right now.

Newcon Not so much, my personal experience is that they fit into the current commercial available rangfinders. That just wont get it done when you need it.

Again thanks for the help.

Im not sure if you need the laser, but the Optical ranger finder, I think its Barr and Strouse (I'm sure my spelling is off) is supposed to work great at really long ranges. I think its an older Swiss artillery range finder. They are also not real small or portable, but then again, neither is a .50

i have peeked the vectors.....they are the shit

when you go long....it gets......more difficult calling misses
it gets more difficult to call wind
it gets more difficult ....to be good

"lidar" which makes the radar gun are very accurate to over a mile. You can try to google the name for company info

Thank you for the info. This will help alot. Some real amazing stuff outthere when you start looking around. Its almost hard to imagine how this stuff can tie into a military tracking system and send a grid cord right to a commander by pressing a Range button and the send button. All run off a secure Sat link. Amazing.

Again Thanks for the info.

If you are talking the need to have "combat" ranging ability (you are not going to try to hunt at 1500+, right?), then yeah, you'll have to spend a lot.

However, if all you are doing is target practice, where you will go out to the target first (to set it up), just leave a road/mailbox/driveway reflector next to the target and hit it with any 1000yd LRF.

Wouldn't the 50bmg manufacturer know what to recommend? You might also try the forum for Barrett Rifles. They are bound to know the best options.
