I have been using an RCBS Chargemaster for the last 4 years and today as I am loading, instead of slowing down to trickle the last few grains, it ramps up to max speed right at the end throwing a big overcharge every time. I have tried restarting it, unplugging it, throwing different weight charges and recalibrating it with the test weights and it still does it. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, if it is messed up, does RCBS cover it under warranty? Ive got some matches coming up and need to load about 250 rounds in the next month and a half and the thought of having to go back to a beam scale makes me cringe.

RCBS has covered a lot of things. They have great customer service. Normally they will have you send it in and ship you a new one. I would call them and see what they tell you. RCBS will be your best source for warranty.
Tell them your problem and situation about needing a powder dispenser. They will take care of you. Good luck and post your results with them.

As with all new computerized products there is a shakeout time phase. Tell RCBS what is going on. They will try to fix it for you...and everybody after you. jmho

I had a similar problem with mine. I contacted RCBS, they had me send it in with a check for $45 ( I think), to cover shipping and whatever, about 2 weeks later a brand new one was at my door. Give them a call or drop and email. I just wish I hadn't bought a PACT while waiting for the replacement. I never use it anymore.

This one however did the oposite - after just ten charges, it began to skip throwing powder around and as it got close to the set charge, would stop as though there was too much tension on it. Called RCBS and spoke with Dory who immediately shipped me a new one with a return label for the defective one. Whatever the problem, that is great customer service in my book!

In a bind, it is still a scale. Just trickle the powder in by hand and don't use the auto-feed feature.
I agree though, I wouldn't want to use a beam scale again.

My Charge Master lasted 10 weeks. RCBS sent me a new one 4 days after they received it. It still ticks me of that they can't have a reliable product built for what they charge. I've seen more reports of failures on this product than anyother reloading product IIRC.

mine did this twice to me. was loading fine then out of the blue it went wacko...i was able to get it to work agian by turning it off for a few minutes.. the part that sucks is mine is brand new.

Before you send it back check the connector between the dispenser and the scale (have to separate the two parts). It tends to get loose during shipment and needs re-seating. Happened to mine when new and it would not do anything correctly. Has worked great since re-seating and anti-static work on the plastic.

will this void any warranty if it needs to be sent back?
before i wiped mine with a dryer sheet you could watch the numbers on the scale move when the powder pan got anywhere near it.
