I looked at this and thought of it two ways.

First, I am thinking times are really bad when we have to have an internal striking force to put down civil unrest.

Second, while I see the current president’s thinking, what a nefarious device this could be in the hands of a president who is evil or not rational in their thoughts. It’s not today’s times and uses, but its possible use in the future that needs to be considered.

The leftists are attempting to launch a color revolution, which will certainly lead to civil unrest in leftist controlled areas of the country. Placing National Guard troops into leftist areas ahead of their violence just might head it off..... but I sincerely doubt it. My guess is that the same CIA spooks that arranged these rebellions and revolutions in other countries to overthrow their leaders - are doing the exact same thing here. Trump's cutting their funding off at the knees by eliminating USAID just might turn out to have been the genius move. It's affecting the leftist media, propaganda, and probably even the availability of stacks of bricks at protests and their signage. Time will tell soon enough.

this! look at the patriot act in Obiden's hand. not that Bush 2 didn't use it to suppress the population. the problem is that we really do have a war going on. it is manifested in the rampant crime of imported individuals as well as group actions,looting and rioting. the armed takeover of apartment buildings,building barricades against police interference,massive border crossings,increases in rape,assault and murder. this approaches Mongol level violence in type and will only increase if not put down hard.
i happen to see this as a military prob,not an LE problem. the ROL failed to prevent it,stop it and shows no sign of being able to correct it.
i def agree that it is a dbl edged tool. it could certainly be used as some here fear as a powerful tool to suppress liberty in the future. 1/6 shows that to be true even just using LE power. the bonus marcher story is another example. so is Shay's rebellion.
i have really no answers.

It might be totally pointless but I guess I'll do it again...

I'd like to point out to all the "good folks" and all those "righteous types" and all the "Right wing patriots" that every time all y'all gleefully forge chains for others, they always get used on you and every single time you are so shocked and saying how you could have never seen that coming...

This may sound so wonderful and good when the holy god emperor Trump is doing it...

BUT just wait, it will actually be used on those who don't exactly like government oppression and tyranny...

I may be completely wrong and totally pessimistic

BUT, the way I see it, the current "police forces" in this country are being allowed to come into disrepute and become hated by everyone.
This is being done on purpose

All this unchecked police brutality and thuggery against citizens and the police getting away with it and being proud of it and flaunting it.
The police turning a blind eye to all crime done by "politically correct" people and letting the "minorities" terrorize everyone

In my view, both are different facets of the same plan.

My opinion is that the end goal is to make the general public and all the "good folks" so disgusted and angry with both the evil and vileness of the "local police" as well as disgusted and angered at their lack of actually protecting the public from real crime against real citizens, that the "good folks" cry out that "something must be done"

And just like that, the solution will be a perfectly "professional" and well controlled "Federal Police Force" or at least the Federal Government essentially taking over the police forces in the country and bringing them all under central control.

Then the powers that be now have full dictatorial control over the country and no need to worry about pesky local politics and will go full on Storm Trooper mode against... wait for it... NOT the actual criminals doing actual real crimes against real citizens, but anyone not obeying the government and anyone the government doesn't like or that talks against the government...

I could be wrong...

Anyone who has walked around DC after sundown you quickly understand it's a real bad idea and I'm talking very close to 1600 Penn. Ave. Driving down Penn. Ave. away from the WH (the other end) is really risking your life. I was there frequently about 5 years ago so I know it's worse now and has been the entire 4 years of Brandon PotatoHead, This is a long time coming and I'm all for it, the PD there is a joke because the foxes are guarding the hen house if you know what I mean. DC is a very historic and cool place but it's scary what it's become, it should be made safe again.

Just one thought, maybe random & useless, maybe not.

I grew up in DC region and spent many days in DC. Late 80s had a job on lobbyist/lawfirm row, K Street and wandered that area often at lunch.

Jan 2020, I had a GF in DC region and we went for a walk from her apt in Arlington VA to the same K Street corridor just mentioned. On the walk saw a bunch of street-level windows boarded up, chain link fence sections placed at various roadways, and a more elaborate fencing being set up nearer to the Potomac from the lawyer/lobbyist row area.

Since I'd grown up in the region and seen many Inaugurations, I wondered why all the excess for this one particular Inauguration.

That's how I feel about the recent DC police scenario, or this one as well. Is it a response to a threat, or a "message" being sent that has nothing to do with actual present threat?

I can't imagine why he would do this. I don't remeber the riots of 2020 at all...

Hopefully the left is being cut off from many of the sources they use to advance their agenda and undermine elections and the rule of law. As other options disappear, I think we all know violence is coming is next. We all saw the LE in large cities allow the left to commit violence and look the other way.

Hell, the guy in Denver who shot two other protesters firing on a jeep that drove past their roadblock only got probation. 😳😳😳

When it's used widespread its going to be in the middle of CW2. Which obsteibly has been going on since at least slick willy.

Yep, and those riots were everywhere in the media no matter where you looked. Also above, that should be Jan 2021, not 2020. So a whole year of riots on the radar.

I didn't see any similar measures in DC after King was shot in '68 and there were lots of riots in DC in that era, probably 2d worst on E Coast outside Newark NJ. Different era though, in every way. Maybe that's why.

The Constitution and rule of law only works when the vast majority are following the rules. When you have bands of lawlessness and justice systems that don't take care of it.....this is what you need.

Martial law...suspend the Constitution and treat criminals as enemy combatants. They forfeit their constitutional right by engaging in a life of crime. Slaughter them wholesale and set an example for everyone else. If you need to kill 5% of the male population ...then so be it. We will all be better off in the long run. They are not just dead weight....they bring everyone , the economy, the country down. Fuck em.

Then you can go back to normal. But you have to fix the problem first.

Many hate federal LE way more than local. I think thats universal. Many have respect for local cops who protect the community. What we absolutely despise is the scum of infected and criminal agencies like the CIA, FBI, DEA, ATF and a few others. They are designed to protect the elites and keep everyone else in line. They recruit sociopaths and psychopaths with no moral compass or integrity. Anyone who works there knowing the shit they have been doing for the last 70 years deserves whatever they get as far as I'm concerned. But local cops for the most part are great. They live in the same community they serve.

I don't see the public trading local for federal LE.

OMG. Can we please stop believing every journalism major with a minor in theater and drama? Outrage porn gets clicks. Every state has National Guard that is CONSTANTLY under the direction of the governor of said state in order to deal with the very thing this (probably 95% AI written) article is about. They don't need a scrawny little force of 600 flying in from some other state to handle anything. The National Guard of any state is made up of the people who live and work in the state. Cops, firemen, mechanics, carpenters, copier salesmen, or whatever. They have ZERO interest in invading another state. Yes, many were mobilized to restore order in DC a few years ago. DC isn't a state. It's a federal district. How about we start using the same skepticism for political hack pieces that we normally reserve for people who claim 9mm is the best all time pistol cartridge

The US government would never do this but, National Guard units don't necessarily have to used if you have several choices of independent private military contractor to subcontract work to . And also, the 9mm Is for fact the best all-around pistol cartridge in all the world.

I mean, it's been well over 150 years since Lincoln fought a war to replace state rights with federalism. Even if you place the start point at FDR its been almost 100 now.

It's crazy how many memebers disappeared for 4 years and now are back to squeal about everything the media says Trump is doing.

Its also worth pointing out there is only one thing any of us could to try to stop it.
