i have a rear focal plane nightforce. it has a np-r1 recticle. on 22x the windage dashes are 2moa. what are the dashes on 32x? im trying to figure it out in my head and all im comming up with is 4moa @11x and 1moa @33x (i know its only a 32x scope.

thanks

Re: rear focal plane scopes effect on crosshairs

At 32X, the dashes will subtend an arc which is 22/32 * 2 = 1.38 MOA.

Think of it this way. You start with the reticle at the power at which the marks are accurate.

If you dial down in magnification from the point, the marks now cover more of the field of view, so they are effectively getting bigger.

If you dial up in magnification from the point, the marks now cover less of the field of view, so they are effectively getting smaller.

It's hard to do in your head. The way i remember it is that reticle subtension is inversely proportional to magnification.
