Any established smiths on the hide have reasonable turn around times for a simple cut down and rethread job?

A few shops around me have "gunsmiths" and I didnt get a warm fuzzy speaking to them and they were quoting times of 5-8 weeks. I can file cut threads in that amount of time.

If anyone is available to do a quick turn job please let me know. A week or two is prefered.

Thanks

+3 for LRI. Couple years ago they chambered/threaded/installed/cerakoted a Stiller/Lilja combo for me and shipped back next day. May just have caught them at the right time but others have similar stories. Whole thing including shipping and back to my door was 1 wk. There's also a guy on ebay (Snipe something) that I've used a couple of times for cut/thread on cheaper bbls - quick, cheap, and I haven't had any issues with his work.

Yesterday morning a client arrived with a 300WSM built by someone on a Surgeon Years ago.

Yesterday afternoon he went home with a 260 rebarrel/rebolt/cerakote done by us. Total time in the shop: 5.5 hours.

Put it in the mail. With the staff I have now and the added machinery we have the bandwidth (once again) to expedite these kinds of jobs.

-This might make a few guys wonder then why their builds are taking so long. The stock work thing has been totally my fault. I should have added the new machinery here months/years ago. That's on me. I have this problem solved now and we are finally able to crank stock work out the way I've always wanted to. I devoted a "Hell Week" over last weekend and M/T to get the new fixturing designed and machined. -Fairly ambitious project...

Now the fun starts, updating the CAM files so that stuff runs with the new multi axis capability. This'll take a little time as well, but it's going smooth.

Long story short, jobs like barrel work can, and does, fly through this place. The stock jobs take longer because presently I'm the only one here with the experience required to make them run the way they need to. A problem I would love to solve but machinists fluent with CAM/intimately familiar with gun work are few and far between in western S. Dakota.

Were gettin' there gents.

Good experience with LRI. Placed order through their online store. ETA was several weeks but I doubt it spent more than a night at LRI. I appreciate how they send am email when they receive the parts. Door to door was just over a week. Threads looked outstanding.

Similar experience here with LRI. Had them cut, crown, and flute. Was quoted 2 weeks. I can't remember if it was in their shop for 24 or 48 hours, but I was amazed at the turnaround, especially when I saw the quality of the machining. Definitely a gem in this industry.

My threading and shoulder tapering was a bit complicated so I had a local shop do that since I hadn't used LRI before this...that was unnecessary and I will use LRI for all of my barrel work going forward.

Follow them on fb and you will see the high level of knowledge and workmanship, as well as transparency. I really like Chad's hip pocket classes and behind the scenes stuff he posts. Good people.

The guys and gals at LRI are awesome. They do great work with the best turn around in the business. Ill have another barrel turned by them whenever I get all my parts in.

LRI has their shit together. They turned me a barrel for an rpr that they turned around quickly. Barrel shoots better than I can. Another upvote.

Another happy LRI customer. 7 days door to door, so realistically, it spent more time in transit than it did in their shop.
