Gunsmithing Rem 700 extractor replacement

I have a rivet style extractor that needs to be replaced. It seemed easy enough so I bought a rivet and extractor from Brownell's and gave it a go. I successfully got it in but it didn't function properly.

Since I've already wasted $100 on the anvil and another broken extractor/rivet, I hesitate to try again.

Is there anyone out there with experience with these that could prolly do them in your sleep? I know it's a 5 min job, but just don't wanna pay even more for a sako/m16 conversion. I'd be glad to pay someone for their time if they could help me out.

You could send your bolt to Greg Tannel. He knows how to correctly install one.

I installed one and peened the rivet without the anvil.

I just put a small piece of steel in a bench vise similarly sized to the anvil and peened it on that.

I get mine thru PTG, never had a problem or a customer bring one back.
