Hi all,

Just grabbed a Remington 700 5R Enhanced in .300 Win Mag. I put a Surefire FH on the muzzle for my legacy 7.62 suppressor, and torqued it down to 30Ft/lbs. I'm a little concerned I over torqued the threads and am affecting accuracy. Looks like my average group size is right around 0.75 MOA. This seem about right? Should I remove and reattach the FH? I'll need a gun smith now that the Rocksett's fully cured.

Edit: Ammo was Mk248Mod 0 and Black Hills 190gr BTHP Match

Did you shoot it before the mods? Did it shoot better before the mod?

That is not bad for a factory Rem 700 in a Magpul Hunter stock. The Magpul Hunter stock is not a bad stock for hunting, but they do have flex in the forearm when used with a bipod. They also take the 3.715 magazine that will only allow a COAL of 3.615 in metal and the Magpul ones will only allow a COAL of 3.500. If you plan on shooting the Federal or Berger ammo loaded with the 215 Berger OTM's, you will at least need the metal 3.715 magazine.

If you plan on shooting it and want to reach out further, I would swap the Hunter Stock for a KRG Bravo and get the longer 3.850 magazines for longer COAL rounds.

EDIT: I just looked up SureFire's instructions and they say, "Torque the adapter between 20 - 30 lb-ft (2.77 to 4.15 metric kilograms)", so you should be ok. Also, your groups prove this in my opinion.

While Rocksett is extremely resistant to heat it’s brittle. Just tap your flash hider with a hammer and it should break to bond. Should screw off after that.

I have a Gen 1 version 5r w/ 26" bbl. The most accurate factory load I've used was the old ABM w/ 230 Berger OTM. Black Hills 190 match wasn't far behind. The ABM would consistently group under 1/2 " for 3 rds. The Black Hills was around 5/8". These rifles shine with handloads. H1000 and heavies are my preference.
