I am currently working on my fathers rifle, as the accuracy fell in the toilet.

I have made some changes, floating, scope mounting, trigger etc, and am trying to get it really clean.

After about 200 patches I am lost. He has shot the Nosler CT bullets with Lubalox coating religiously, and never cleaned it. I keep pushing dirty patches out the muzzle, and dont know what else to do.

I have tried:
Shooters Choice
Butches Bore Shine
Kroil
Montana Extreme Copper Cream (Works Best So Far)
Shooters FP-10

But Still Cannot get this stuff out. HELP

Re: Removing Lubalox From Barrel?

What brand and caliber? Stainlees or CM barrel? Have you checked it for accuracy since you started the cleaning? Some barrels need a little fouling to shoot at their best. I would use some JB at this point if it is still not shooting up to par.

Re: Removing Lubalox From Barrel?

It is a 300 WSM Remington 700 with the Stainless Barrel. I have not shot it since last weekend and it was terrible, but it had many other problems as well. Just wanted to start over...clean slate. I borrowed some copper killer from a neighbor and paired with the copper cream works pretty well.

Re: Removing Lubalox From Barrel?

Iosso paste has worked well for me on heavily fouled barrels. I've not tried it with lubalox fouling as I've not shot the CT bullets.

Gunslick foaming bore cleaner or Wipe Out might be worth a try also.

Re: Removing Lubalox From Barrel?

I seriously doubt that Wipe Out will do anything for the Lubalox because it's for copper. Wipe-Out barely does anything for carbon. Butch's, Sweets, or JB is what I would use along with a nylon brush(patches with JB). Use less patches and more of your brush. Don't leave Sweets in the bore more than 10 minutes without removing it and starting again, it'll eat your barrel.

Heck, use some carb cleaner, brush it, and then oil it.

How many rounds would you say have been fired before you started cleaning it?
