Is there a way to retrieve text messages that have been deleted off a phone from att? The reason I ask is that my 12 year old daughter has been sending a receiving text msg. from an "older" boy. We just caught her and revoked her phone, but all messages hae been deleted. Are they archived in any way so they can be retreived to see if anything illegal was going on?

not trying to sound like a jerk... but did you call AT&T? They should be able to pull records like this. As long as you own the phone I don't see any legal reason they wouldn't give it to you... but how much of a priority they make getting it to you is another issue.

And I doubt that they have unlimited storage... probably a week at the absolute max I would imagine, so I would call ASAP. But I am not in the know about these matters, so I could be wrong.

Re: retrieving text messges?

AT&T stores texts for 48 hours due to the massive amount of data. After that they are wiped from the system and can't be recovered. You may need a court order to even access this info. There is the possibility that the information could be pulled from your SIM card, but it would take a forensic computer technician, time, and likely a good deal of $.

This is all third party information so take with the recommended grain of salt... go to the source... call AT&T

att does not store texts on there servers, or that is what they told me when I called. They said there may be a way to recover them from the sim card, but they don't now for sure.

There are programs you can put on the phone for prevention or early catching of future incidents.

Just look up "cellphone"+spy+software or a similar search string.

You can have all texts, voicemails, calls, etc sent to your computer or phone, can listen in 3rd party without them knowing etc.

I'm not an advocate of violating anyone's privacy, but if you feel it is for the safety of your daughter- by all means.
