Here are my initial impressions of the new Revic PMR 428 ballistic computer enabled precision rifle scope.

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FD05rT3So7s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    Some of the highlights include

    Tool-less Turrets
    Internal Ballistic Software
    Bluetooth
    Accompanying App that Links
    4-28x
HUD in upper 1/3 of the sight picture

This is day one stuff in the video, more will follow

This looks very very interesting.... I wonder how obscene the price will be on one of these... Also curious to see how the electronics hold up to thousands of rounds of recoil...

This could turn out to be the Samuel Colt moment of the precision world.

Are they readily available, or still in pre-order? If it really is based off of the Razor Gen II I am definitely interested in getting one. I think right now though I would prefer to wait for the MIL option.

These are the prototypes, I am not sure when they will start shipping the final versions.

They are definitely the same wrapper as the Vortex, it's dimensions are identical, but internally it all ends there. When I spoke to Revic at SHOT last year about this, they mentioned going to the OEM of the Razor, but again, everything changes beyond that link. The similarities end at that point.

Funny, I know most of these delivered this week to the reviewers like myself. Watching John @ 8541 tactical, he got his the same time as me, and according to the emails, that is when everyone received them. But I swear a full review has already been posted on a website and it does not appear they even shot it. A couple of generic pictures and nothing that looks like a range.

How can you review a scope of this caliber with this much going on in a weekend?

You can't and that is why we look to you. You will give us the dope when you get it and not sooner. And we can trust it to be complete and just not the first one to post some stupid shit that will turn out wrong. You test and research before you pass it along so we get it right the first time. And for that Thanks.

    Retail is listed at $2750

    far from obscene

That is a good price point Frank, the pics you've posted look very nice as well.. I can't wait to get your full review... Does this optic have a ranging feature as well or is it just the ballistic calculator?

I need me one of these in MIL. Would go great with a SWR Radius mounted on the rifle.

Ditto...a Mil version would probably seal the deal for me.

Sooo close to one of the features I have wanted forever - a compass and incline display in the scope. On its own? Useless. But build an ecosystem of spotting Optics with the same feature and you would revolutionize spotting.

That's an interesting concept: Spotting scope with ballistics, LRF and compass, all bluetooth linked to a scope on a rifle. Wouldn't work that well for PRS, but would work well in a team shooter/spotter scenario. Could even have the scope with pointer arrows to guide the shooter onto the target based on azimuth and inclination of the spotter (assuming they're located next to each other). It would help the target ID process to a large degree.

Hey Frank, great quick review, do you have any more info on your review of the Revic now that you've had it for over a month? Also, for those who were asking for Mil, Revic does have this version coming, I believe you can pre-order the Mil version right now. One of my main concerns is the fact it doesn't have wind, it sure would be nice if their bluetooth allowed connectivity to a wind meter and LRF, granted wind at the muzzle is only one part of the equation but still would be nice to view in scope. I agree with the King, I'd love to see some of this tech in spotting scopes, but I guess the LRF Binos with ballistics are getting close.

Here's the link to their website for anyone curious about all the specs: http://www.revicoptics.com/product/pmr-smart-scope-rifle/#comparison-matrix

For Mil/LEO they do have pricing if you contact them directly. Even though Revic is a new name to the community they have a fantastic pedigree in the folks behind the scenes (think Schmidt & Bender, Optronika/Premier)

Exactly. I’m considering building the foundation of something like this by making an industry standard messaging system for lasers l, calcs, Optics, and weather devices.

It would use a phone as a message router and support signaling to/from any supported device. Then you wouldn’t have vendor lock in anymore.

Since everything is handled by the onboard ballistic computer does having it in MOA matter if you are used to mils? Seems like it wouldn't matter.

You can go strictly by the range if you want...

The scope works with batteries and without, so without, it operates exactly like a normal scope, dialing the dope to hit the target. With the batteries it can work via the dope, or just by Range so, dial until the range matches and send it.

if you use Mils, wait for that version, no sense jumping on the first one because it's MOA. They will have a Mil version soon enough.

What ballistic solver are they using? Has anyone done a side by side test with a Kestrel?
