Want to start by saying sorry for being noob. Shot an 82a1 at an indoor shooting range and fell in love with the stress that's relieved from the power of a .50BMG. AR50 coming on Monday and trying to set it up. Couldn't wait till the end of the year for a lefty bluegrass armory viper. Going to shoot 200-1000yds. Tried to search other posts looking for the best setup. Don't want to spend more than $1000 on a scope since ill rarely shoot more than 700. Really eyeing swfa ss fixed 20x42 or sightron s3 6-24. I know it's quite a price difference but I want to spend smart whether I'm going to camp with family firing at 200 yards or find a spot I can safely shoot 1000. Problem I'm having is understanding all the different ring heights. As far as I know, the ar50 comes with a 15moa base. What ring hieght would work best for me for what I want to do. Thanks, and again, sorry for asking questions that I could probably find answers to if I knew the right words to search.

20x fixed is far too much power for 200 yards in my opinion. Go with something variable powered, or maybe 10x fixed if your eyes are good enough to shoot that out to 1000 (People will tell you it isn't enough but I think the USMC used 10x fixed for years). Someone will probably chime in who has much more experience than I do. There's lots to learn here, welcome to The Hide 
I would look at the new SS 3-15X if you want to stay under $1000. I really like the look of AAD triple lug rings and I will probably go that route on my next bolt gun.
Aadland rings will get the job done with no problem!SWFA fixed 10X.Both pieces for under 5 Bills & made to take 50cal.
You will need x-high rings for an AR-50. I mounted scopes on two of them for buddies of mine and the x-high rings are the only way to get the cheek rest up enough to not interfere with the bolt.
2brothers has a good point. if you stay lower to the barrel, you will have to adjust the cheek piece to remove the bolt. it isn't difficult, but can be annoying. i bought the armalite mount for mine, don't go that route- i'm not impressed...
