I’m just starting to load for 6.5 Creedmoor with Hornady 143 ELDX and Berger 156 EOL. I’ve got a box of Lapua SRP brass, 3lbs of RL 26 and needing a little help with some charges. I also have several other powders but understand RL 26 is the one for speed. I’ve got a custom build with a 22” Proof Carbon barrel with a Crux can. I’ve shot factory and custom loaded Ammo that shoot under 1/2 moa but I’m looking for a bit more velocity and want to try the Berger 156. Thanks for any suggestions

I just loaded some with 46.5 up to 47.3gr of RL 26 and the Berger 156. Now just need to go try them out

I did a workup or rl26, lapua srp brass and 156 Bergers out of my creedmoor. Ended up with:
Base to ogive of 2.265" overall length of 2.968 (chamber has long throat) .010 off lands
Charge of 47.8 grains
Velocity of 2880 fps
It has tremendous downrange energy as a hunting load!

I just set my die with a factory Precision Hunter round then lengthen it so the start of the boat tail is at the neck and shoulder of the case. They chambered just fine but I left all of my mags at my farm over the weekend so I’m not sure they will fit in the box. They should because they are not much longer than the 143ELDX. I’m hoping to get the best velocity possible with the 22” Proof barrel.

I am running the 147 eld with 47.7 grains of RL26. Haven’t tried the 156 Bergers at all though.

What barrel length?

I’m using Lapua SRP brass, RL26, H4350 and H4831sc but I also have Superformance, RL15, 17, 19, 22, 23 and 26. I’m looking for the best powder charge for velocity and accuracy. So whatever is suggested I appreciate it

Would you need to be specially throat-ed for the 156? I can run the 143 at 2840 from a 22 inch proof? I have 14 pounds of it so I might try it with the 156.

I’m loading mine to the maximum length that go in the magazine. Almost 2.90” in Lapua SRP brass, RL26 from 46-48.5grains. Pretty much the same with 143ELDX bullets, Berger 135 Classic Hunter, Sierra Game Changer 130 and Barnes TSX. Now I just need to get to the farm and try them out with the Magnetospeed as well.

Using the Hornady coal gauge the length of the 156gr is 2.93 but the rifle is mag fed. I’ve got Hornady 143eldx loaded to 2.895 that barely fit. I read someone loaded the 156 with 47.8gr of rl26 so I’m tempted to start around 46 and go up. My rifle is setup for deer hunting and I can shoot as far as I want to at my farm, but that doesn’t mean that I will shoot a mature deer at 500-600 yards. I’ll shoot a doe but not a big buck.
